In the win against Baylor, th e C ardinals lim ited 6-8 Brittney Griner o f the Bears to just 10 field-goal attempts. Baylor had only lost one game this season. Last year they went 40-0, and brought back all their starters. Louisville went 16 for 25 from 3-point range, tying the NCAA tournament mark for 3s, and making the m ost ever in the regional semifinals or beyond. Schimmel had five 3s. Shoni Schimmel scored 22 p o in ts in th e L ouisville Cardinal’s upset victory over th e B aylor B ears in th e women’s NCAA tournament. B aylor, th e d efen d in g champion, was the top-rated team in the tournament, and many believed they w ould again win the NCAA cham pionship. The Cardinal’s 82-81 vic tory on Sunday was one o f the biggest upsets in tourna m ent history. The Cardinals are a five-seed in the tour- hey. # S chim m el is fro m th e Pendleton area, and has fam ily and friends am ong th e Warm Springs membership. H er sister Jude is also a car dinal. W ith h er 22 poin ts against Baylor, Schimmel also had three steals, two assists and one rebound. The tourney, presented by Warm Springs Recre ation, is held in the Warm S prings C o m m u n ity Wellness Center Gymna sium. Mini marathon at KNT The Kah-Nee-Ta Mini Marathon is on Saturday, April, 20 at the Kah-Nee- Ta Resort and Spa Village. The races will be the 14.5, 10K, SK and a 1- Mile fun run/walk. Regis tration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Village front gate. T he 14.5 race will pro vide a bus to Sim nasho leaving the village front gate at 8:30 sharp, the race will begin at 9. The other races begin at 10 at the village front gate. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in th e m ale and fem ale division’s in all age catego ries. All participants will get a door prize ticket, as well as free entry pass into the Pool. You can pre-register at a discount at the Recre ation D epartm ent or reg ister on the day o f the race.
