Just 20 m inutes a day m akes a world o f difference over a child’s form ative years. A child’s read ing skills are im portant to their success in school and work- in addition, reading can be a fun and imaginative activity for children, w hich opens doOrs to all kinds o f new w orlds for them, g P arents and'fam ily play a critical role in helping their chil dren develop not only the ability to read, but also an enj oyment o f reading. 9 • T u rn o f f th e tu b e . Start by limiting TV viewing time. • Teach b y exam ple. I f you have books, newspapers and m agazines around your house, and your child sees you reading, ithen your child will learn that you v alu e read in g .
