Secretary-Treasurer Jody CaEca review ed the p o sted b u d g et for 2013. H e explained that part o f the reason there is such a reduced bud get is the reduction in dividends from tribal enterprises. Before opening the floor for com ments, CaEca posed the question, “H ow do we bridge the shortfaE”? H e also sh ared o p tio n s th a t Tribal CouncE has been discussing, including tribal employee furlough days and new service fees. D uring this process, the m em ber preference and other employment issues can be addressed. H e said that for 2013 the plan is that no tribal m em ber wdl lose his o r h er job as a resu lt o f w orkforce reduction. Some va cant positions are being elimi nated. Councd agreed to review the m atter during the m orning session on D ecem ber 19. C ouncdm an A ustin G reene Sr. said the issue o f the tribal ap pellate co u rt needs to be dis cussed. T h e court was eliminated earEer this year, with a plan to develop an alternative court simi lar to a family court. C ouncd agreed to discuss this o n the m orning session o f Dec. 17. Councilman G reene said the future o f the tribal senior pen sion fund needs to be addressed. S o m e h av e m e n tio n e d th ey w ould take a smaller m onthly payment, if this would extend the duration o f the fund, he said.
