Hood We are getting ready to open the W arm Springs In te rp re tiv e C e n te r a t M t. Hood. The grand opening is on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. To sta rt th in g s off, on Sept. 27-29 there will be a com m em orative horse ride from the W arm Springs Res ervation n orth boundary to Mt. H ood. Friday, Sept. 28 is Native American Day at Mt. H ood Ski Bowl. They will open the facilities to tribal member stu dents. T his will be free o f .c h a rg e to th o s e s tu d e n ts w h o can sh o w lan g u ag e learning, perfect attendance, athletic involvement o r out standing GPAs. O n Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Mt. H ood Ski Bowl, there will be a powwow with com petition dancing, tribal m em ber vendors, and social dance performances. This will mark the end o f the comm emora tive horse ride. T h e c e le b ra tio n c o m memorates an agreement be tw een Mt. H o o d Ski Bowl ow ner K irk H anna and the tribes and the Culture and Heritage D epartm ent. The agreement calls for the open ing o f the interpretive center that tells the W arm Springs tribal history at M ount Hood. The celebration recognizes Warm Springs and their tie to the land. Thè area is part o f the land the tribes ceded to the United States as part o f the Treaty o f 1855. Proceeds from a salmon bake at Mt. H ood will be split w ith A u tn i Ic h is h k iin Sapsikwat (Our Sacred Lan guage School) for their opera tion. Vendors can sign up im mediately to reserve a spot at only $25 per table. Vendors will have until Sept. *24 to sign up, and can pay at the door. A filth crew will document th e celeb ratio n and h o rse ride. A tipi village and camp area will be marked out for tribal participants. Tribal; federal and state dignitaries will be in atten dance to mark this day! The Culture and Heritage D epartm ent is n o t resp o n sible for travel expenses, loss o f personal property or di vorces! as court orders and depart m ent deductions, including Utilities and Housing. Credit will do data entry for loans. Per capita checks will no longer be made through the tribe. Instead, they will go th ro u gh the O ffice o f the Special Trustee (OST). P er capita checks were originally coming from E m ery, Calif., near San F ran cisco, b u t are riow com ing fro m K an sas. So th e p er capita checks will not be com ing from tribal envelopes; in stead, they will be the govern m ent envelopes. We hope this inform ation helps. We have been receiv in g m any calls a b o u t p er capita checks. We had been p ro c e ssin g the p e r capita checks for about six m onths, because we wanted to ensure that our membership received per capita checks, rather than not at all.
