You’ve probably heard that last month’s board meeting brought some exciting news that will impact all of us. Here’s a quick summary of what’s going on: ■ Our board voted 4-0 to accept the recommendation of a community facilities committee to put a $26.7 million bond measure on the May ballot. In spite of everything that’s going on around us, our teachers and staff continue to focus on engaging students and improving learning. While we were disappointed by the recent news of our decrease in graduation rates, we believe that our current efforts in the classroom will have a significant impact on the future success and continuing education of our students. Thank you all for your on-going support. Please don’t hesitate to contact me, or the other school board members, to discuss the bond measure or any other questions you have about the district. We will continue to keep you informed about important issues that affect our schools. — Brad Holliday, Chairman, JCSD 509-J School Board “Our classified staff demonstrated a remarkable commitment to our students and schools with the ratification o f a three-year contract.
