This an nual event in it’s 18th year is coordinated and executed by the IHS Diabetes Prevention Pro gram lead by Jennie Smith, FNP. This year’s event started off with a Health Fair where you could stock up on toothbrushes, get your blood sugar checked, and learn more about what it feels like to have high blood sugar with some hands on ac tivities. Many different depart ments participated and shared the programs they have to of fer for the community. A mouth-watering salmon dinner was prepared by Chef Michael Spaulding with assis tance from the experienced Longhouse chefs from the Se nior Program. Although the line got long people enjoyed each others company as it moved along, and felt the meal was well worth the wait. Each person who signed in before dinner was automatically entered into the door prize drawings that were called out throughout the evening. A wide range of gifts were donated by community members and other Tribal Departments from t-shirts to beaded stretchy rings. Each winner was pleasantly surprised when they took a look at their winnings as no two prizes were alike. Once everybody got their Yvonne Iverson photos.
