And our very own “Warm Springs Nation Boxing Club from W arm Springs, Ore. If you didn’t witness the boxing at the Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Resort and Ca sino on Saturday night, Jan. 29, you missed some history in boxing. We had three first- time boxers from our team: 11-12 year olds, 108 pounds. Shoshana Garcia, a tough start for her but she’ll be back for round 2. Shoshona lost to Yovanne Cervantes o f “Round 3”. 10-11 year olds, 75 pounds. Ju stin e Brisino fought hard and it may have been the fight o f the night, Justine decisioned Katheryn Interian of “Chief Cornerstone”. Special Senior, 205-plus pounds. Wes Smith also had the audience escape during his bout, excitem ent; it’s loved by many. Competition: makes athletes excel. Wes lost by technical decision to Super Heavy Weight, David Olan o f “Victory Gym”. We also had three return matches that made a lot o f noise: Jo el Thompson, 8 year olds, 55 pounds, lost again by decision to Jose Malverde of Vancouver. T hey’ll meet again no doubt. Antonie Scott, 13 year olds, 165 pounds, and Gariero Marquez boxed for their fourth time but the punches were counted for our fighter in this one. Antonie won by decision over G ariero M arquez o f C h ief Corner v Stone. Izaya Thompson, Warm Springs Nation Boxing Club (WSNBC), 14 year olds, 100 pounds, was supposed to have boxed Eagle Pipe o f “Capital City” but Eagle Pipe de faulted to Izaya Thompson o f the WSNBC. % In other bouts: Shag Spino, 14-15 years, 110 pounds, decisioned David Martinez o f Vancouver.
