Y o u t h from the Warm Springs Place for Kids-Boys and Girls Club had a hands- on experience with puppets that are used in animated movies. It was a chance for the youth to learn about the pro cess o f anim ated m ovie making, and to expand their views o f what kind o f ca reer they choose in life. “When you go through school, sometimes you get a limited idea o f what your career path might be,” said Scott Tom. one of the pup pet masters who helped con duct the workshop. “To see something like this shows you that there are job opportunities out there that you might not have hear about otherwise,” he said. The youth from the Place for Kids-Boys and Girls Club first went to the see the ani mated film Coraline at the Bend Film Festival. Film crew members who worked on the puppets in the m ovie then conducted a workshop for the youth. The animated film pro duction company Laika En tertainment House provided this opportunity. The youth learned the entire process of animation, from the creation o f the puppets, to seeing how the puppet characters come to life.
