Baseball trip to Cooperstown My n am e is D a v id E z ra Smith. I am 12 years old and I am in the sixth grade. I am the so n o f T yro n e an d M asam i Smith. My paternal grandpar ents are F rank Sm ith (Warm Springs) and Sheryl D ieteren (Columbus, Ohio). My m aternal grandparents are George D anzukajr. (Warm Springs) and Roberta Danzuka (Yakama). I currently live in Columbus, O hio with my par ents and my two sisters, A fton and Tashina Smith. My dad has been teaching and coaching me in the realm o f b aseb all since I was old enough to throw a ball. H ere in Columbus, I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old for the G reater Westside Base ball League. T h e past few years I have played baseball for my dad, and o u r team has becom e a very dom inant and competitive base ball team in the Central O hio area. T his year I have been se lected for a travel baseball team o u t o f C olum bus called the Wesdand Cougars. O ur team is going to com pete in the 2009 U.S. Specialty Sports Associa tion (USSSA) National Tourna m en t in C ooperstow n, N ew York from June 13-19. O ur fees ($850 per player in addition to travel costs— food, gas, lodging, etc.) for this tour nam ent are going to be very phe nomenal, so I am seeking finan cial su p p o rt and sponsorship from anyone w ho would be will ing to donate to this once in a lifetime experience o f mine. Resource team approves timber, other projects T he Resource M anagement Interdisciplinary Team on Feb ru a ry 10 a p p ro v ed decision docum ents fo r th e 2010 and 2011 tim ber sales, along with two small project assessments (SPAs), one to expand fiber op tic capabilities and another to rock a portion o f Charley Can yon Road. T he team (RMIDT) unani m ously passed a resolution to approve a decision docum ent fo r th e U p p er Beaver C reek 2010 T im ber Sale. A project assessment, evalu ating the sale’s impacts, had al ready been released for tribal m em ber com m ent and after a 30-day review the project was approved as recom m ended by the technical staff from N atu ral Resources and Forestry. T he U p p er Beaver Creek 2010 Tim ber Sale will target a harvest volum e o f approxi mately 27 million board feet of timber. T he treatm ent area is just under 2,500 acres in size. R M ID T u n a n im o u sly passed a resolution to approve a decision docum ent for the U p p e r W arm S prings 2011 Tim ber Sale, as well. This sale will target a harvest volume o f approximately 37.5 m illion board feet o f tim ber and coyer an area just under 1,800 acres in size. M aps and assessm ents o f both tim ber sales are available through the Forestry Branch office. A p r o je c t a p p ro v e d by RM ID T under the SPA process will allow Eagle-Tech Systems to expand the tribal fiber net work. Fiber optic cable will now go to the new media center, Tribal Construction, Natural Resources an d F o re stry b ra n c h e s, B IA Roads, and BIA Facilities Man agement.
