Driving conditions are haz ardous w hen drivers are n o t equipped to drive on the roads. Slowing dow n and becom ing aware o f other drivers will help us all have a safe and happy Christmas season. Having a few near accidents I khow th at slowing dow n is definitely the way to go. While our roads departm ent is doing their best to help the situ a tio n we sh o u ld also be aware o f other drivers w ho are struggling to get from here to there. N o t ev eryone can a ffo rd studded tires or chains so when it’s necessary to go somewhere we take chances and it becomes difficult to stop or go. So drive safe and slow. T h e gam e h ad flo u rish ed over time, there was abundant feed. The Indian way was to con serve, just killing for their need. T he hides w ere always uti lized, they treated th em w ith care. N ew clothing for the family, a blessing theyw ould share. In sum m er on the m ountain sides, the huckleberries grow. The Indian families always there, a place they loved to go. They did prepare for winter tim e, th e h u n ters b ro u g h t in deer. M uch salmon drying in the camps, it was a fruitful year. Across the heart o f this great land the buffalo did thrive, pro viding m any tribes w ith meat. T hat’s how they did survive. They managed the environ ment; abuse was n o t their way. The land rem ained just like a park and should have stayed that way. T he w hite m an came upon th e scene. T h eir hearts w ere filled with greed. They w anted all the Indian land, to battles did that lead. How evil was the armies plan; so they could win the war. They killed o ff all the buf falo, th e fo o d was th e re no more. T he acid rain has killed the lakes, a cancer on the land. A nd still the white m an blun ders on, he does not understand. T he Indian lived in harm ony w ith nature every day.
