AIRCA, the American In dian Rodeo Cowboys Asso ciation, is the oldest orga nized Indian rodeo associa tion, “where winners rope, ride, race and legends are made.” After receiving this title she is now eligible to compete for the National All Indian Rodeo title. Chee is from Purdy Rock, New Mexico and is affiliated with Warm Springs Reserva tion o f Oregon, Yakama Na tion of Washington, and Na vajo Indians o f the Black Streak Wood people clan. She is 17-years-old, and daughter of Lena Mitts-Chee and H erm a n Chee. H er b ro th e r Jake and sister Kasarah complete her imme diate family. She is a junior, at Wingate High School in New Mexico. Chee has ru n C ross Country for two years, and has competed in the New Mexico state championship. She also plays basketball, likes to help little kids, loves July 3, 2 0 0 8 Youth tackle football league taking sign-ups Jefferson County youth foot ball is a tackle football league comprised o f two age groups of players from Jefferson County. Fourth- and fifth-graders are com bined; and sixth-graders have their own squad. The league is sponsored by Bend Metro Park and Recre and go through October and are played on Sunday afternoons in Prineville and Bend. Her family has six horses, which she rides, their names are: G uch, C opper, H enry Hawk, Hell Raiser, Hell Boy, and Rosie Red. Her immediate plans are to assist the oldest organized In dian rodeo association by pro moting the sport o f Indian ro deo. She will do this by encour aging others to get involved in the sport, and by supporting all the AIRCA contestants, ro deo fans and other integral components o f the rodeo in dustry. She invites all o f th e A IR CA founds, gold cardholders, and past cham pions and co n testan ts to come back and mingle with a new generation o f rodeo en thusiasts. “I look forward to a very exciting rodeo season and anxious to meet all o f you. See you down the road and all the best to each and every one,” concludes Chee. The event options are a 10k run, 2-mile fun run/walk, and a 10k walk. T he 10k walkers need to meet at the park for a 7 a.m. start time. 10k runners will meet at the park by 7:15 a.m. and will catch a bus to the starting point Softball tourney at Bellingham Adult co-ed softball tourna ment, July 19-20 at the Frank Geri Field in Bellingham, Wash.
