Smith won his first match on Saturday, March 29, by decision. He advanced to the champi onships on Sunday, and went up against the Washington State Golden Glove champion from Tacoma. They boxed for four rounds, and it was a very close .fight, with Smith losing narrowly by deci sion, said boxing coach Austin Smith. Spectators and fight of ficials agreed that this was the best fought bout o f the week end. Smith took home the run ner-up trophy, and special tro phy for having fought in the best fight of the tournament. A LITTLE, SAVE A A Jasper Smith took home two trophies from the Golden Gloves tournament: the runner-up trophy, and one for having fought in the best fight of the weekend. Action begins at noon at the Warm Springs Rodeo Arena. Admis sion to the rodeo is $3, kids un der 6 free. Events include junior barrel racing (ages 14 and under), calf riding (12 and under), and mut ton bustin’ (6 and under); the wild colt race (15 and under). These events have $10 entry fee, and $30 per team for the wild colt race. The wild horse race, $345 per Calf roping, break away rop ing, bareback, saddle bronc, wild ride, barrel racing (open), team ro p in g (enter twice). These events have a $30 entry fee ($30 per man for team rop ing)- Rescue race, $10 per team; cow riding (open), $10. Just for fun: Womens boot race, calf scramble, and stick horse race.
