Phil Rodda and several em ployees o f Arce Construction used tectonite cement to show how effective the product can be as patching cement. Using the quick-drying ce ment, they patched several of the crumbling "steps in a matter o f minutes. T he d em o n stratio n to o k place after Tribal Council asked to see how the product works. Phil Rodda invented the prod uct and currently works to mar ket it through Tectonics. According to Wendell Jim, a member of Tribal Council, “It’s probably the best kept secret and we’ve never seen it before.” Because of that, he said, he offered up the steps of the edu cation center as a worthy project for demonstration. Part o f the reason behind the demonstration is because Tribal Council wants to help Rodda expand the m arketing o f tectonite cement, Jim said. “We believe in his product and I wanted to see it work,” Jim explained. Several em ployees o f the Utilities Department were also on hand for the demonstration, and spoke of using the cement for patchwork before—particu larly to repair sidewalks at the senior center. Because the cement dries so rapidly, it allows little time for error, they said. Rodda said that in addition to Utilities, Composite Products, .
