Spilygy Tymoo, Warm Springs, Oregon Junior queen appreciates support Niix Pachwai inmi naimuma! Inashwanisha M alia LaLonie Collins. I would like to thank everyone for supporting me in my candidacy for the 2007-08 Ju n io r Q ueen for L in co ln ’s B irthday C eleb ratio n in Simnasho. I had a very good time going around to different powwows in the Northwest selling raffle tick ets. I got to meet and make a lot of new friends and also was able to see old friends and family. First I would like to thank the committee for giving me the opportunity to represent your celebration. I will not disappoint you as I travel to different places and speak on your behalf. This has been a big learning experi ence for me that I will carry the rest of my life. I would especially like to thank my local people right here in Simnasho and Warm Springs! Without your local support, I w ouldn’t have been able to achieve this dream. It was with your support and encourage ment that I was able to succeed. I w ould also like to thank Annette Jim for her great ad vice in the raffle selling busi ness... you shared good ideas that I used and were invaluable to me. I also want to send huge thank you’s to my family who Malia LaLonie Collins supported me from far away. My Ullah Dundee and Pusha Harry from Marysville, Wash ington, my uncle Austin in Sac ram ento, my uncle Javier in Portland, my aunt K itty and uncle Jaso n in Seattle, “grandma” Georgie Meracle in C eres, C alifo rn ia, and my O nepennee fam ily from Yakama. Thank you to my Kuthlas Lillian, Marlene, Carol, Bunny, and my K ussa M axine McKinley. Thank you to my Tilla Jacob and Kuthla Winona Frank. All of my aunties, uncles, cousins, grandmas and grandpas. A huge thank you to Phil Rhodda of Tectonics and Warm Springs Composite Products Enterprise for your generous purchases of my raffle tickets. Remembering Rudy This last year has gone by so fast since we all lost someone special to many people from far and near. As I reflect on the life and m em orial o f W arren “Rudy” Clements I’m further reminded of his humor, laugh ter, wisdom, foresight, leader ship and his love of the tribal ways and of all of his family. My thoughts, memories and prayers rem ain the Clements family, Anna, Shayla and little Jake. As we all reflect on Rudy, I’m offering this letter to the Tribal Council to consider passing a resolution to devote a day in re membrance of Rudy. After all, Gov. Kulongoski has already bestowed this for Rudy for ev erything he has done for not only for our tribe, but other tribes and the State of Oregon. I’m sure this is a relatively small request, considering every thing he’s done for the tribe - mainly our Gaming Enterprises and the Bridge o f the Gods Columbia River Resort & Casino. The casino will have an ev erlasting positive impact on our tribe and future generations for years to come. When done and operating, it will certainly stand tall head and shoulder as a ma jor milestone for the tribes. Cer tainly if the State of Oregon can have a Warren “Rudy” Clements day, our tribe can match that. I remain privileged and thank ful to have had the opportunity to work for Rudy. He opened the door for me at Gaming. Rudy never really considered me “working” for him, rather “beside” him for the people. It was a true honor to have had Rudy as a mentor when I entered into the Gaming Enter prise and Expansion team. The Enterprise lost someone special, but recognizes it was his time to go be with the Creator. I think I can speak for many tribal members working at Kah- Nee-Ta, Rudy always believed in our own people and stood up for us in times of need and al ways saw the best in everyone. In closing, it certainly would be appropriate for our tribe to offer up recognition that is pro p o rtio n al to w hat Gov. Kulongoski and the State of Oregon has already done. For those who knew him, worked with him and loved him, his vision will live on for our tribe. His leadership will remain of a unique caliber, achieved by only a few from our tribe and state. His leadership will likely go unparalleled for our tribe and I’m sure the Tribal Council can accommodate this suggestion, considering everything Rudy did for the people. Page 5 March 15, 2 0 0 7 Thank you Katie Mae Smith for walking around with me while I sold tickets. And last but not least, thank you to my mom and dad and my sisters M ikayla, Kristie, Yesenia and my YaYa Miguel. I look forward to represent ing the Lincoln’s Birthday Cel ebration throughout the next year. I have already made it to Washington’s Birthday Celebra tion, and I plan on attending powwows in Lapwai, Gonzaga, Missoula, and hopefully Gath ering of Nations this coming April. This is just getting us through the end of April, we will see how far I can push my dad to take me! My family and I will be do ing fundraising to help me get to these powwows throughout the year, and I look forward to your continued support. This has been a dream come true, and I am very honored. If I left any one out, I didn’t mean to, but I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
