The girls, who compete in the C alifo rn ia In tersch o lastic Federation’s southern section, are making a strong run for the A rrowhead League title, and aiming for post-season play due in large part to Oregon native Coleicia Moses. With an overall record of ten wins and four losses, an unbeaten league record, and an eight-game winning streak, the Lady Braves are poised to take first place with three games remaining in the regular season. Sherman is a comprehensive secondary boarding school for Native American students. The school is located in Riverside, Calif. Coleicia Moses is the daugh ter of Paula Miller and Oliver Moses. She is a member of the Confederated Tribes o f Warm S p rin gs, and tran sferred to Sherman for the second semes ter. She is batting .500 in the league, ranking second on the team, and has 18 runs batted in. With an on-base percentage of .571, she is a key to our of fense. She regularly has multiple hits per game, and produced the game-winning run in the bottom o f the seventh inning to secure the victory over the only other previously unde feated team in the league. Defensively, she adds consis tency and an intimidating pres ence. She alternates between pitching (where she has won five games), and shortstop. Recently, her pitching performances have been instrumental in victories over two o f the Lady Braves’ main rivals for first place. Through both positions she is able to take control of the field, and she plays a critical part in determining in the outcome of the contest. Coleicia is a quiet young lady who leads by her actions rather than words. As a sophomore, she possesses the intense attitude and a level of experience that we would like to have on our squad for years to come. The Lady Braves are aiming for a positive end to a fun and rewarding season, and are hop ing for great things to come in the future as many of the play ers (Coleicia included) have sev eral years of eligibility remain ing. It is an excitin g tim e for S h e rm a n I n d ia n H ig h School. Students will also receive as sistance with their 2006-07 ap plications for adm ission, and ask questions of the represen tatives.
