The exhibit will be on display through early January 2006. Golfers compete in Invitational tourney Canadian golfer Jbn Heaver scored a 1 51 to edge local golfer Kelly Wctcher by three strokes to win the Northwest Indian Invitational Golf Tournament at Kah-Nee-Ta High Desert Casino and Resort Golf Course Oct. 8-9. Beaver won $475 for winning the gross (scratch scores) por tion of the men's championship flight, beating Wetcher, who earned $325 for his 154 week end score. Another Canadian, Sharon Jack, won the women's gross flight with a 165 score, beating out Janell Smith, representing Kah-Nee-Ta, who finished with a 175. Jack won $350, while Smith took home $250. Ixuie Pitt of Warm Springs, finishing only one stroke behind Beaver's score at 152, earned $450 in winning the senior men's gross flight, edging Frank Go- Care giver training offered The third Care Giver Train ing Day - Caring for Tribal El ders and the Disabled - will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Warm Springs Community Center. The seminar is free of charge. For information call the Victims of Crime Services (VOCS) of fice at 553-2293. Coordinators are Charles Tailfeathers, Viola Govenor and Pearl VanPelt. The agenda for the day is as follows: 8:15 a.m.: registration. 8:30: welcome and introductions. 9 a.m.: "The Basics of Liv ing with or Preventing Diabetes." Speakers are Elsie Howard, Jeri Kollen and Royce Embanks of Indian Health Services. 10 a.m.: break, followed by 10:15 with, "The Heart-Mind Connection to Memory." Speak ers are Kathleen Ronning of the Central Oregon Alzheimer's Association. 11 a.m.: "Heart to Heart Caring for Others." Speaker is Jillene Joseph, associate director of the National Wellness Insti tute. Lunch is provided. 1 p.m.: "Traditional Health and Care for Elders." Speakers are Myra Shawaway and Adeline Miller of the Culture and Heritage Department. 2:15 p.m.: "Basic Legal Issues for Elders." Speaker is Nancy Seyler, prosecutor, Victims of Crime Services. 3:30 p.m.: Dis cussion and closing. The event is sponsored by the state of Oregon DHS Se niors and People with Disabili ties Services, and Warm Springs Victims of Crime Services, Se nior and Disabled Programs. Vision: Seniors and disabled per sons, families and caregivers are safe from abuse and neglect, and ideas can be shared for positive growth. Verna Conner of Kah-Nee-Ta was the only player in the Ladies net division and won $350 for a 145 score.
