Boxing news Team must say something By Austin Smith Boxing Coach It was toe-little while ago that the boxers put the 10-oz'ers on at the Bend Armory. But man it's good to see them doing something healthy whenever you can, enit? Who can say what to do when you're already doing it. It's always better to believe in yourself even if things don't turn out the way you want. Sometimes it's what we're up against that fails us most. I personally don't understand why I like boxing. I know why bullriders like to play around with bulls, and why the bulls try to hurt the riders. But why does one man like to beat the other man? Who knows? I like foot ball and boxing and track and field and music. I mostly like to witness a Na tive nation come back from a hard knock-down and to witness how they get up to keep going on with life. Feel the waves in the air? It's going to be a better place to live once we have built our own K-12 at least. Don't give up, go for the win, get what you want out of life, because this is our body, we're the people who established this nation. It's those x's that defines our DNA. I think our elders enjoy all the little ones and the goings on at ECE. How'd you like to enjoy that same thing right here in town? But on a much bigger scale? A high school with a packed gym this evening, yes! The Madras White Buf faloes vs. the Warm Springs Lands. Someday it'll be true. Yes, to have our own school will be to have our own future and establish your own goals and feed j our own cul ture. We need a lot around here. Right now, I'm sure we could pull all of our children out of school and just teach them what we know and they'll learn what they have and that would be bet ter for their future. Right now all they do is go to school, return back to a non-social structure because that struc ture is being destroyed before it even stands up. Education is important, but being able to put it to use is our let-down. I didn't go to Madras school system very long and I think that's why things are the way they are today for me and my thoughts. I've got nothing against a child's hap piness until that child starts becoming unhappy just for being who they are. I say No. Let's not make do, I say. Let's make a school for those who will some day make a college as well as a future. Jump high, run fast, move quick, score if you can and dont be afraid to shoot. Hope everyone wins, but you have to honestly defeat someone to do that. So please remember who lost to you and how good their defeat gave you to the feeling of winning. Happiness to a hu man being is very little, but it can sure fill up the hearts of their peers. How about: Today vs. Then. For in stance, in the year 2004, Today wins by the score of No School for Warm Springs. Then we'll win by the future. Make sense? I guess I'm sorta off the boxing news. Yet I'm sure that my cor ner advice will come in handy, because I know what if feels like to be the subject. Expect the best - don't settle for less!
