Are you up for a chal lenge? If you are a Tribal Member looking a career direction, career change, or maybe you're fresh out of school, please consider the excit ing, challenging field of being a structure FircfighterIiMT. To break into this field, it requires a lot of work physically, mentally, and aca demically. In order to work at F'ire & Safety as an entry level l irefighterIvMT, the job requires the following certifications: EMT Basic and Firefighter-Basic. Indian country doesn't have its own F.MT certification program, so the F.MT classes are generally taken through a local sponsoring fire department or at COCC. Community members often wonder why F.MT certifica tion is a prerequisite to the job, but if it were your family memberloved one who was sick or injured, you would want an F.MT or Paramedic to respond as they have the medical training. The basic firefighter train ingcertification can be done at the weekend Fire Academy which is also put on by sponsoring fire depart ments, often in Central Oregon. So, are you up for the challenge? If you Happy Birthday to Theyliah from Johnny and Adele April 15m, Happy Birthday to Carolyn Johnson from Adele, Johnny and Lil Johnny I want to wish my sis Ca-Lou (Lenora Buck) of Priest Rapids, Washington a very happy birthday on April 19, from Jeanine of Warm Springsl Have a good one. After demonstrat ing your commitment and interest in pursuing a career in the F'ircF.MS field, the department can also help you with the required trainings that will lead to certification. A very dedicated individual could complete an F1MT classcertification and Fire Academycertification within six months. ( We really need and want Tribal Members to pursue a career in the FireEMS field and become em ployed at Fire & Safety. To date, we have had very little interest from Tribal Members in pursuing this as a career. If you have given serious consideration to being a career Firefighter EMT, and are willing to invest the time, effort, and commit ment the work requires, we need you. Please contact Cfiicf Dan Martinez at Fire & Safety, 553-1634. Happy 8th Birthday to Andre J. Thomas I hope your day is the greatest! I love you & miss you. Your aunt Danielle & J.J.
