Spilyay Tymoo Warm Springs, Oregon January 11,2001 11 Tribal member vents continued from page 5- Wc, Warm Springs Confeder ated Tribes have the electricity, the land, water, and resources to cre ate a vibrant wholesome industry business. We could use these re sources, the estectic value, clean air, water, living, to attract first-rate honest (if that's possible) business people to help us build our infra structure business community by advertising on the Internet. We could have used those millions of dollars we wasted in Hood River for a down payment on a Barge. These are those big boats that run busi ness up & down Columbia River with access to our global economy. For the next 7 generations, if you have forgot our elder's teachings. Water, drinking water, since we're on the subject of Chooz'. How about our infinite wisdom council approving another million of dollar worth of water plant to be built in the exact same location be low our poop pond, lumbermill, door plant, trash dump, below Bend, Madras, Sisters, Redmond, Prineville, etc. their farming waste, PCB, industrial waste, human waste, DDT farming waste, etc. All this drains into our Deschutes River. The most polluted cancer causing sick river on our rez. And our so-called leaders allow another water plant our drinking water to be built again. Eliminate the districts and vote as one. This would eliminate big families in each district from mo nopolizing all the power, resources, education, experience, jobs, etc. We should get more thoughtful leaders if we all come together as one. It is time to come together, eliminate the three districts and all vote as one. Anybody that is not brain dead realizes that we cannot continue to stay divided. If we con tinue with the present system (cre ated by whiteboys for whiteboys), administrating, we will continue to be robbed for generations. Agency district meeting was pitiful, sick, outrageous. Our so called leaders were cussing, using the F word on our people and an other was taking cheapshots, ver bal at our WS concerns. Little kids in men's bodies making decisions that affect all our WS peoples lives for generations to come. With simple minded, mean spirited, thieves, like those in council. Know wonder the timber contractor can steal all they can, not be held ac countable then are subsidized, bail out, given millions more to enable to continue stealing from all of us, living dead & yet to be born. Sick, very sick, greedy, selfish leaders, concerned only about themselves & their family & the pet lawyers. These pets cost our people our lives, our resources, money, affords our leaders access to lawyers that the'use1 to rip us off. Steal all they can with our tribal lawyers help! The Coyote watching the chicken coop syndrome. Mangy coyote, coyote sell-out, uncle tomahawk, Kahlija puppets controlled by their great white father, money greed, whiteboy sickness, corporate busi ness interest that will in the long rung only benefit a few WS tribal members. The precedent is our tim ber resources that only benefited & still benefit only a few tribal mem ber while 95 of our Warm Springs people live in poverty, sickness, death. ..spend your millions worth of blood money you cheap creeps. Our people are dying because or your selfish greed! Opportunities should not be less accessible to any of our young people. But our present administra tion has been monopolizing not only opportunities but also tribal positions & they have a system in place that rapes, fiscally rapes all our tribal people. I think that if we build a tribal liquor store, tribal adult recreation center, tavern, we could put all the money we earn back into preven tion. Build a teen center, music, tire, clothing, co-op, jobs, build our own town instead of allowing the uncle tomahawk kalaija puppets to funnel all our WS tribal resource into the Madras community, which they have an interest in. Crimi nal conflict of interests. Time for some of us to get together and bring a class action lawsuit. It is time for change, way past time for change. Out with the crooks. In with our grass roots WS people. We can do so much for the fu ture of our WS tribal people if we just work together, get rid of the crooks, distinguish business from )ersonaI and put our grass roots WS seople in office, jobs, jobs, create ,obs. I failed at my wood yard busi ness but when I had it going on I created over 100 jobs for local woodcutters. Now the WS tribes took it over and employ just a few. Can't even come up with their own business ideas. We have to lead them into it. Then let them take the credit. Oh well, as long as it gets done & it benefits all our Warm Springs Confederated peoples. You all know me, or most of you do, cause I was born, raised and will die at home in Warm Springs. We have to protect what little we have left, not take it for granted cause there are forces within our community that would like to steal what little land, freedom, resources, etc. that we have left. You know I'm pretty well messed up with the drugs & alcohol plus other isms, demons that I fight with. But I do love my people, children, dad, bros., sisters, etc. I care about our Warm Springs Native Indian people and others. Things are go ing to be okay, as long as we hang in there, be strong, protect our selves, care about one another. Nothing lasts forever. Not even the poverty, violence, drugs, alco hol, hard times or the good times. 70's & 80's are gone and so is most of our timber resources & who stole these resources? Think about it; follow the money trail up the Deschutes. But it's all-good just most of the time it seems to e not so good for 95 of our people.. Something needs to be fixed fast!! Help, help, help, our leaders are killing us. At least the Jewish Ho locaust had the consolation of be ing killed by a foreign govt. Ger mans. Here in Warm Springs our own government are the genocidal monsters, our own government is supporting genocides of our own people. Our brother Luther Danzuka murder, torture, sick, very, very sick. Tribal govt. Ad ministration, then they are trying to cover up not only Luther's murder but also the murder of the little baby. Sick, sick tribal administra tion. And where is the BIA Supt.? Hiding? Mr. Luther Danzuka, if he was here, I'd ask him what it feels like to be tortured, slowly dying, mur dered by our own tribal govern-' ment, Administration, talk about Holocaust!! Luther went to our EMT in good faith, our Police & they mur dered him!! Ouch. .Criminal viola tion of our right to life. Criminal violation of public trust. Man, if this wasn't Payton place itself, ev erybody responsible for our broth ers murder from the EMTs, Police, Doctors, and etc. would at the very least in under indictment for homi cide. What about that little baby our tribal government, administration, tortured, murdered by allowing our child to roast in the sun!! Double ouch!! Criminal violation to the human Right to life. Murder by our own Tribal Government. Can t get much worse than that. It's legal to murder our people in Warm Springs. What kind of message does that send our Warm Springs commu nity? No wonder everything is fall ing apart, out of control, here in Warm Springs. Our people killing each other, plus the sleaz bags that some people drag in here that kill our tribal people. Man, go back to the hole you crawled out of, sell out. Only in Warm Springs can our own tribal govt, administration murder our people and get away with it!! Only in warm Springs can our Bro go to marriage counseling in good faith and lose his wife and family to the marriage counselor who subsequently get promoted!! Tramp go back where you crawled here from. The road leads out. The same way you came crawling in. I'm angry. Angry about these so called leaders that kiss up to the whitebacks. We, WS tribes have our own Indian values, moves, ways, lets place the authority to say no or yes back into the hearts, minds, souls, of our Warm Springs tribal peoples, as our elders suf fered and died for. We must come together, Warm Springs, Wasco, Paiute as never be fore to protect what little water, timber, land, air, natural resources, freedom, defend ourselves as never before! ! But we must TEAM up, all of us. Warm Springs up for the good of all of us & not just a cho sen few that become rich while the vast majority 95 of our people live and die in poverty, violence, drugs, alcohol, and oppression. Lets come together for the sae of the next 7 generations. This is what I think our tribal government, tribal administration, tribal enterprises are like our drink ing water and cancer if we don't come together and put a stop to building our water treatment plant in dry creek on the Deschutes River the most polluted, filthy source of cancer causing water on our Rez. Then we will have to live with lit erally killing our own families, peoples through drinking all of Bend's, Redmond's, Prineville's, Sister's, Warm Springs' human waste, industrial waste, PCP, farm ing waste, cancer causing drinking water. If we don't put a stop to all the stealing that is going on as you read this then we will again be guilty of genocides on our own people because it is this very coun cil, administration that approved this drinking water TX plant to be built on the filthy polluted Deschutes in the first place. Damn!! Toe bright! I guess we are all ex pendable in their greedy eyes. The water TX plant, Tribal govt. & Tribal admin. Must be dealt with before our lives can start to get bet ter. Oh! And what is that 2.5 mil lion in the budget for Small Busi ness. Is somebody padding their 1 8 new position? I knew it was all an act. When one of our so-called managers was offering up their po sitions for budget cuts. Yeah right! I guess we will see who moves into the new million-dollar small busi ness position. ..creep. Well, signing off for now.... just expressing the truth as I see it. Have a nice day as the cops might say. The one dollar bill you're looking at first came off the presses in 1957 in its present design. This so-called paper money is in fact a cotton and linen blend, with red and blue minute silk fibers running through it. It is actually material. We've all washed it without it falling apart. A special blend of ink is used.the contents we will never know. It is overprinted with symbols and then it is starched to make it water resistant and pressed to give it that nice crisp look. If you look on the front of the bill, you will see the United States Treasury Seal. On the top you will see the scales for the balance a bal anced budget. In the center you have a carpenter's T-square,a tool used for an even cut Underneath is the Key to the United States Treasury. That's all pretty easy to figure out, but what is on the back of that dollar bill is something we should all know. If you rum the bill over, you will see two circles. Both circles, together, comprise the Great Seal of the United States. The First Continental Con gress requested that Benjamin Franklin and a group of men come up with a Seal. It took them four years to accom plish this task and another two years to get it approved. If you look at the left hand circle, you will see a Pyramid. Notice the face is lighted and the western side is dark. This country was just begin ning. We had not begun to explore the West or decided what we could do for Western Civilization. The Pyramid is un-capped,again signify ing that we were not even close to being finished. Inside the capstone you have the all-seeing eye.and an cient symbol for divinity. It was Franklin's belief that one man couldn't do it alone, but a group of men, with the help of God.could do anything. "IN GOD WE TRUST' is on this currency. The Latin above the pyramid, ANNUIT COEPTIS, means "God has favored our under taking." The Latin below the pyra mid, NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM, means "a new order has begun." At the base of the pyramid is the Roman Numeral for 1 776. If you look at the right-hand circle, and check it carefully, you will learn that it is on every National Cem etery in the United States. It is also on the Parade of Flags Walkway at the Bushnell, Florida National Cemetery and is the center piece of most hero's monuments. Slightly modified, it is the seal of the President of the United States and it is always visible whenever he speaks, yet no one knows what the symbols mean. The Bald Eagle was selected as a symbol for victory for two reasons: first, he is not afraid of a storm; he is strong and he is smart enough to soar above it. Secondly, he wears no ma terial crown. We had just broken from the King of England. Also, notice the shield is unsupported. This country can now stand on its own. At the top of that shield you have a white bar signifying congress, a unifying factor. We were coming together as one nation. In the Eagle's beak you will read, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," meaning "one nation from many people." Above the Eagle you have thir teen stars representing the thirteen original colonies, and any clouds of misunderstanding rolling away. Again, we were coming together as one. Notice what the Eagle holds in his talons. He holds an olive branch and ar rows. This country wants peace, but we will never be afraid to fight to pre serve peace. The Eagle alw ays wants to face the olive branch, but in time of war.his gaze turns toward the ar rows. They say that the number 13 is an unlucky number. This is almost a worldwide be lief. You will usually never see a room numbered 13, or any hotels or motels with a 13th floor. But,think about this: 13 original colonies, 13 signers of the Declaration of Independence, 13 stripes on our flag, 13 steps on the Pyramid, 13 let ters in the Latin above, 13 letters in "E Pluribus Unum", 13 stars above the Eagle, 13 plumes of feathers on each span of the Eagle's wing, 1 3 bars on that shield, 13 leaves on the olive branch, 13 fruits, and if you look closely, 13 arrows. And for minorities:t he 13th Amendment. I always ask people, "Why don't you know this?" Your children don't know this and their history teachers don't know this. Too may veterans have given up too much to ever let the meaning fade. Many veterans re member coming home to an America that didn't care. Too many veterans never came home at all. Tell everyone what is on the back of the one dollar bill and what it stands for, because nobody else ill. To the editor, Indian First. Our Tribal Member Preference Policy put into place by our Tribal Council who then had a genuine concern for our people is exactly what Webster's Dictionary describes policy as wise management--a principal or plan of our tribal gov ernment. In 1991 when our mill was com pelled to lay off 150 workers, I ad dressed the Tribal Council with facts regarding other tribes that aggres sively enforced their TM's preference policy. The Seminole Indians of Florida actually forced a non-tribal member to leave their job and be re placed by a TM which had the capa bility to do the job. the non-tribal member had a better resume with higher qualifications, but as long as there was a TM which had "enough " qualifications and was capable to handle the job, the TM had first pref erence. That is what the SOVER EIGNTY we fought for-for so long stood for. The right to establish our , own laws to wisely govern our people. Any other hiring entity would be sued to practice such favoritism in hiring. We, not only can do it but we do, do it. Otherwise we would be sued for even having the nerve to put that section on all our tribal job applica tions. If a TM is qualified he should get the job, or remain on the job when "lay offs " are a necessity of manage ment. Of the 60 "lay offs" at the mill, Not a single member should be laid off. They are all qualified and ca pable. I worked at the mill and know you can train monkey to do most of those jobs, they are easy and monoto nous, but they do bring in family in come for the TM's-the very reason the mill was established for in the first place. Being self-sufficient means when there is just enough food for your family, you feed your family first You don't call every Polanski, Pedro, or Gertrude, and every other stranger to share your last meal, starv ing everyone. It means you look out for your own first. You make sure your family gets its share Of the pie. The 1991, the Council make a new referendum after I addressed the issue, which was to enforce the Tribal Member Preference-Affirmative Ac tion Plan Policy. The management that did the hiring just "scoffed" at the new referendum, and nothing changed, as usual. The Tribal Coun cil had neglected to place a penalty in place to aggressively enforce their decision. If the person were fired for "insubordination" for not following policy, the referendum would have some power. If management knew they could lose their own jobs and be in the same boat as the tribal member they are oppressing, they would not scoff. But would adhere to Tribal Council's mandates. I've got two college degrees and one business certificate and for nearly 3 years have got aced out for a job 1 was qualified for, but a white guy got the job. A white guy who pays no taxes for the community and could care less about our needs. How do we encouage our children to go to col lege, when they know a white guy will get the job anyway? And to top that off, that white guy will hire an other white guy as a consultant. If your salary is. $65,000 plus you are automatically entitled to a consultant to do your thinking for you. Two white guys doing a job, one Indian can do. Wisdom? What are these TM's going to do when they have no work? Occupy the jail? Sell drugs? Burglarize? Poach? Get drunk and destroy? Desperate people do desperate things. We need a referendum that fires the hiring per son for not hiring TM's first!! Take care of our ow n first Tribal Member, R.T. Thompson (Shy'Lumcc)
