Proposed chemicals to control noxious weeds The Natural Resources Depart ment and the Bureau of Indian Af fairs are proposing an amendment to the existing project assessment for controllingcompeting vegetation and noxious weeds which was originally approved in January of 1995. The proposal would change the existing list of authorized chemicals, adding several which will help overcome the genetic resistance of certain nox ious weed species toward the chemicals being used presently. All current Best Management Practices in the Integrated Resource Manage ment Plan for the protection of water resources will remain in force. The current assessment will be extended for a period of five years. Any new chemicals will be applied according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and the Tribal Water Code. Tim Little Boy 1 .Zip The Indian Adult Day Health Care for Veterans The VA Adult Day Health Care Program Provides extensive health care services, Improves physical stamina and mental well-being. Provides a therapeutic activity program which is enjoyable as well as rehabilitative. Aids the older disabled veteran in making the most of hisher capabilities. Provides supporteducation to families and friends. The ADHC is available to veterans who are receiving care from the VA Medical Center,(Hospital, Outpatient Clinics, Hospital-Based Home Care, Nursing Home Care Unit, Contracted Community Nursing Home Care), and whose condition indicates they are in need of continued frequent health and rehabilitative services. Help with transportation is available on a limited basis. Veterans usually attend one or two days a week. The number is determined by his or her health care needs, A nutritious hot lunch is provided. Staff are available Monday Veterans War The All-Warrior Memorial project is looking pretty good at this point and the site has been discussed and agreed on which is at the Museum area. The Veterans have met with the Museum Board of Directors and they were in full support of the memorial being at the Museum area. There was mention, why didn't they include this in the original planning of the Museum in the beginning. There were other locations suggested, the Museum area was the No. 1 , site, the next site was at the Pi-um-sha grounds, the third area was adjacent to the court house. One of the main objections to the other two sites was Vandalism and damage to a sacred memorial. Finally after all these years the Veterans will be recognized for what they have done for their country in time of war. They should take pride in being remembered for their service. Some have gone and never returned but they will be remembered and honored with Frances Ora Wolfe, 20 months, passed away January 10, 1998. She was born May 2, 1996 to parents Richard and Serina Wolfe at the St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. Wolfe was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. She resided in Troutdale, Allegra "Leggs" Tuckta Robinson Tufti, age 62, passed away Tuesday, December 3 1 , 1997 at Mt. View Hospital in Madras, Oregon due to a long term illness. Mrs. Tufti was born April 11, 1935 to parents Joe Tuckta and Edna Brown David in Simnasho, Oregon. She was an enrolled member of the Confeder ated Tribes of Warm Springs and a lifelong resident. Mrs. lutti was known for her humor and loved giving nicknames to her many Natasha Farron Herkshan, age 9 years, passed away Tuesday, Janu ary 6, 1998 due to an automobile accident on the Shitike Creek road. Natasha was born June 12, 1988 to parents Nadine "Doots" and Leevi Herkshan. Herkshan, a fourth grader at the Warm Springs Elementary was an exceptional student, receiving many awards throughout the years. Her Sorhina Ann Wilson Suppah, age 39 years, died in Toppenish, Washington January 5, 1998. Ms. Suppah was born December 27. 1959 to parents Iva Meanus and Victor Wilson, Sr. at Redmond, Oregon. She was raised in Bend, Oregon by foster parents Lucken Bill & Glenns. She was an enrolled memberof the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, moving from Bend in 1991 to reside in Warm Springs. She later married Roman Warrior, The Veterans Corner W through Friday between: 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. except on legal holidays. Veterans attend ADHC 9:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Services from as far back as when the United States needed scouts for the military, they called upon men from Warm Springs, right up to the present time men never hesitated at all to answer the call when needed during war time. Right from the Indian Wars right down to WW1, WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf and any other skirmishes we may have been mixed up in. Today we have boys in the service and have been over in Bosnia keeping the peace in that country. In each war there were tough battles fought by our boys right from the WWI, in France, WWII, during all the battles in the Pacific area and the European countries, the invasion of North Africa, the invasion of Italy, the Normandy landing, and finally the big WWII, ended but not for long as the North Koreans invaded the South Korean area where they asked the United Nations for assistance and the U.S . was first to send troops in to help the South Koreans, and from there Howlak Tichum Frances Ora Wolfe Oregon with foster mother Marie Rasussmin. Survivors include parents, Rich ard and Serina, brothers Charles, Tyrin and Richard Wolfe, Jr.; sisters Christina and Mary Wolfe; grand parents Margie and Joe Tuckta, Donald and Martha Winishut; the late Lenora Meanus and the late Allegra "Leggs" Tuckta Robinson Tufti friends. She also was known for her beautiful bead work, an art she passed on to her children. Preceding her in death are her parents, and one sister, Arlene David (passed on 4391). Survivors include husband Lawrence Tufti, children Joe & Terry Tuckta, Luana Robinson Isadore, Randy, Tammy, Rex, Rhonda, Laura & Amanda Robinson along with adopted daughter Victoria Tufti; sisters Natasha Farron Herkshan whole family participated in what ever they did together, such as Indian dancing at powwows and sports (t ball and basketball). She was an en rolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Survivors include parents Leevi and Nadine, sisters Tianna, Rachel CharlieAnn and twin Nicole; brother Paul Scott; grandparents Chris and Danny Scott, Enos Herkshan Jr., great Sophina Ann Wilson Suppah Suppah. She loved playing the guitar, singing and writing her own music. She enjoyed sewing, learning to bead and make yarn bags when she moved to Warm Springs. Survivors include daughterNikia Suppah; mother Iva and stepfather Olsen Meanus, Sr.; sisters Debbie Scott and Rosa Brown Chiquito; brother Harold Pennington, all of Warm Springs, OR another brother Victor Wilson, Jr. of Washineton: Rehabilitative care is provided for each participant. It begins with a comprehensive assessment of each person's needs and an individualized plan of treatment. The plan is designed to address each person's physical, emotional, spiritual and recreational needs. The big push out of South Korea's Pusan, VIA an invasion of Enchon, the big drive north until the Chinese joined in with the North Koreans and the fighting started.. The siege at Changjun Reservoir, all the big battles of Pork Chop Hill, Bloody Ridge, Heart Break Ridge, Old Baldy just to name a few big battles. After the Korean War, Vietnam started and the 1000 day war with the big battles of Khe Sanh, Quang Tri, Pleiku, Bien Hoa, the Mekong Delta, just to name a few in Vietnam, than came the Desert Storm, where fighting took place with the Americans doing most of the fighting. We have a lot of Veterans who don't speak of things like this and some have a hard time getting back to normal life after facing things like this. We see the bad things of our Veterans and wonder why they do what they do, we never stop think of how we can help the problem Veterans, many who still have bad dreams of those dark dreadful days of war.
