He was an enrolled member of The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. He was born February 3, 1967 in Redmond, Oregon to Raymond and Rosemary (Holliday) Grout. Raymond was a life long resident of Warm Springs. He worked for the Utilities Department in Warm Springs at the time of his death. His special interests and hobbies included hunting, fishing, outdoor Victor Fifty-four-year-old, Victor William Smith, Sr. of Warm Springs, Oregon, died on September 30, 1 995 of an incurable lung disease at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon. He was born on November 3, 1 94 1 at the Warm Springs Hospital in Warm Springs, Oregon to Stanley and Dorothy (Shumaker) Smith. He married Marjorie Danzuka, June 27, 1972 in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 1981. He was working for the Natural Resources Department at the time of his passing. He enjoyed living at his ranch and liked riding horses and has some cattle previously before he became to ill to care for them. He chopped wood for sale when he was not working for Natural Resources. He is survived by the following children: Sherri Lynn Smith; 32, Clinton Roy Smith; 30, Dena Kaye Thurby; 29, Veronica Smith; 27, Victor Smith, Jr.; 22, all of Warm Alice Florendo Enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, seventy-two yearold Alice (Switzler) Florendo of Pendleton, Oregon passed away at her home due to natural causes, Saturday, October 8, 1995. Alice was born October 1 4, 1 922 in Warm springs, Oregon to William and Sophia (Sidwalter) Switzler, Sr. She married James Florendo, Sr. on April 8, 1946. Dressing ceremonies were held Tuesday, October 10, at 10 a.m. at the Agency Longhouse. Overnight services followed. Nelson Moses and Reverend Rick Ribeiro officiated. She was buried October Caroline Caroline (Katchia) Tohet of Warm Springs, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 1995 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, due to pneumonia. She was born December 18, 1920 in Warm Springs to William and Eliza (Manse) Katchia. Caroline was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. She was a charter member of the Elliott Palmer Post of the VFW Auxiliary. She lived in Warm Springs all of her life except for a short time in Tacoma while attending Business College. She taught Indian language classes and Sunday school. She also taught Indian culture at Madras High School and Oregon State University. Her interests included helping people, bead working and acting as a 4-H Leader. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She married Harvey Tohet, Indian custom in 1947. They divorced February 2, 1966. He preceded her in death August 27, v.. " 1S1 I.' He married his wife Beth, November 21, 1989 in Mctolius, Oregon. He is survived by his parents, his wife Beth, and his child Lakin. He is also survived by two brothers, D. W. Hudson and Charles Hudson. All survivors are residents of Warm Springs. Funeral services were held Friday, September 29, 1995 at Bel Air Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Madras. Internment was held at the family home in Sidwalter. Smith, Sr. Springs. He had two step-children, Donovan Danzuka; 25 of Warm Springs, Donnetta Ewack; 27 of Weyburn, Canada. He is also survived by four brothers; Stanley "Buck" Smith, Sr., Leroy Smith, Randolph Smith and Emerson Smith. He was also survived by four sisters; Faith Dick, Deanna Shadley, Dorothea Barney and Emma Smith. Dressing ceremonies were held on Monday, October 2, at the Bel- Air Chapel in Madras, Oregon. From there he was transported to his home in Seekseequa for overnight services of all denominations. He was then transported down to the Agency Longhouse on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. for his final viewing and ceremonies. He was buried at the Agency Cemetery in Warm Springs, Oregon on October 3, 1995. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Smith, Sr. and Dorothy Smith. And also his wife Marjorie. 1 1 at 7 a.m. at Agency Cemetery in Warm Springs. She is survived by her children; Jo Ann Smith of Warm Springs, James Florendo, Jr. of Eugene, Brent Florendo, Toni Florendo and Roberta Marli n ; her brothers ; Tony George, Sr., William George, Darrell George, Sr. and Larry George, her sister; Theresa Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband James February 2, 1995, her children Joyce Ortiz, Fabian Sutterlee, and Cherylyn Florendo; her brothers, Jimmy Switzler, Leander George and William Switzler, Jr.; sisters Esther Danzuka, Maxine Gabriel, Cynthia Sloam, Beatrice Switzler and Norma Switzler. Tohet 1973. Prayer Services were held Wednesday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Tohet home at 1711 Foster Street in Warm Springs. Dressing ceremonies were held at 1 0 a.m. at the Agency Longhouse in Warm Springs. Margaret Boise and Louise Hellon officiated. Overnight services followed. Nelson Moses, Rex Robinson and Rev. Allen Elston officiated the overnight. Burial will be Friday, October 13, 1995 at Dry Creek Cemetery. She is survived by her children Richard Tohet, Mary Tohet- Hisatake and Jimmy Jason Tohet, brother; Cyrus Katchia and numerous grandchildren all of Warm Springs. In addition to her husband who passed away in 1973, she was preceded in death by her brother Lyle Katchia, and sisters; Admata Katchia 1916, Agnes Katchia 1906, Winona Katchia- David 1940, Ethyl Katchia 1914, Louise Katchia 1936 and Margaret Katchia 1914. i
