Central Oregon teams busy this season The Madras Buffaloes traveled to The Dalles and were beaten by the score of 40-14, in a Tri-Valley league game on Friday night, September 6, 1995. The battered up Buffaloes football team could not stop the determined Indian team of The Dalles. It was a big revenge from the shellacking The Dalles Indians took from the hands of the LaSalle Falcons just a week earlier, the score in that game was LaSalle 35, The Dalles 0. The Dalles had to take it out on someone and it just happened that the Madras White Buffaloes were standing in the wing as their next opponent. The Dalles started the scoring on a 60 yard pass play from Quarterback Ortega to Shaw. The kick was good giving them a 7-0, lead. Their second score came also through the air as Ortega hit Done van from 10 yards out and again the kick was good and a 14-0 lead. The second quarter didn't go to well for the Buffs as The Dalles pounced on a fumble in the end zone and again the kick was good and the Indians stretched their lead to 2 1-0. Well it finally happened the Buff defense caused a fumble and they re covered it on the 9 yard line and from there Foltz ran it in to put the Buffaloes on the score board, however the run for two points failed. The Dalles came right back and broke lose on a 27 yard yard run and the kick was good. Just a quarter to go and the Buffs dug in but The Dalles came storming back on a Shaver run from 13 yards out, but this time the kick failed. ThcBuffalocdefenscplaycdapretty good game even at a losingcause where in the final period they created another fumble and Stanfil! picket it up and ran 53 yards to pay dirt. This time a pas from Sites to Saldana added the two point conversion and the time ran out with the score board lite up The Dalles 40, Madras 14. The next game for the Buffaloes will be at Wilson ville, Thursday Octo ber 12, there. To get there take exit 283 from 1-5. Go east on Wilsonville Road approximately 1 .5 miles from the freeway. The Crook County Cowboys dropped their third league game to the Hermiston Bulldogs here in Prineville by the score of 34-13. The Cowboys couldn't get their game plan going.
