Remember my first article on A. A. and the twelve steps. Here are steps five through eight. Five. To admit our shortcomings. We take our list we made from step four, (the list of who am I), and we share with someone else. We set our selves free from shame when we let someone else into our world. This is a very powerful step in reclaiming life. Now, you have God, and a friend, who know you. Now, you are not alone. Six. Removing character defects. Now, as a team, your God and your self, you take your list of step four and begin to work on the part of your list that name your weaknesses. As a team, you take your list of strengths and with more added tools from God, you reduce your list of shame. Now, you are strong. Seven. This is a step that asks the team of you and God to not only to reduce the list of step four, but also to work in smoothing out the emotional rough edges of our life. Doing step six can make you a grump; step seven knows that and makes it a step to ask the team to keep you sweet, not sour. Eight. The second list. You are now standing tall with self-respect and humility in your heart. But the past stands ready to bite you in the leg. So, with strength in your heart, you turn and face your past in order to take its teeth out. You make a list of persons you had harmed in the days of shame. Remember, the first Sunday of each month is a special Church ser vice at the Presbyterian Church. It is a communion service followed by a polluck lunch. See you in Church. Pastor Rick. I focus on positive thought because the thoughts I think and the words I speak create my experiences. I now choose to cast out of my mind and my life every negative, destructive fearful idea and thought. I feel tolerance, compassion, and love for all people, myself included. Every experience I have benefits me. I am in the process of positive changes. My wonderful thoughts create my wonderful world. I choose my thoughts with care. I am willing to see where it is I need to change. What I give out, I get back. I give out only goodness and in turn, only goodness comes back to me. When I create peace, harmony and balance in my mind, I find it in my life. We are all family and the planet is our home. I speak only words that are loving, positive and constructive. No person, place or thing has any power over me, for I am the only thinker in my mind. I experience love wherever I go. Loving people fill my life and I find myself easily expressing love to others. All my relationships are harmonious. I see only harmony around me at all times. I am willing to release the pattern in me that is creating any negative conditions in my life. I am willing to grow and to change. Every moment presents a wonderful new opportunity to become more of who I am. - - i -f t-s ! - " i - i i - 1 ' ! f "- W ' Catholic Native American Mass and Potluck Thanksgiving: November 20, 1994 Christmas: December 18, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. St. Francis Church S.E. 11th and Pine Portland, OR For more information call 503-257-9714 at HeHe , V V It y i t.
