Two officers were assigned to the Senior Citizen's Day as both were kept quite busy attending to the needs of the Senior Citizens. Police Ask for Assistance In the recent rash of structure fire tone-outs, the Warm Springs Police Department is asking community members to please avoid areas of the streets leading to a reported or vis ible structure fire. With the street congested and re sponse by emergency vehicles, it makes added difficulty in getting the fire apparatus' in and out of the scene. If you live on a particular street of an incident, please bear with us in complying with our request. Yield to the oncoming emergency vehicles, watch for fire hoses and drive carefully after the emergency vehicle has passed by. Don Courtney, Chief of Police Brand book being updated The Range and Ag Departments is currently in the process of updating the Warm Springs brand book. The following information is needed from everyone that has a registered brand: 1) Is all the information in the old brand book the same (brand, brand location, earmarks, ear tag colors etc.)? 2) Are you adding new brands? 3) Any changes from one district to another? We would like to have the new brand book out by July 1, 1994 so any newupdated information needs to be in to the Range and Ag Department by May 6, 1994. Child drowns in resort pool physician, who was staying at the resort, attempted to resuscitate the child until Warm Springs emergency crew members arrived. There was a lifeguard on duty, according to the resort, the story related. A Howlak Tichum will appear in the next issue of Spilyay. A five-year old enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes, Leo Stanley Rowe, drowned in the Kah-Nee-Ta Village Pool Wednesday evening. Rowe was discovered unconscious in the pool at 8: 1 5 p.m., according to a news article in the Bulletin. The article also said that a Portland Howlak Tichum Randy Vern Yahtin Randy Vern Yahtin, Sr., 35, died March 26, 1994 in Warm Springs. He was born October 16, 1958 to Chesley and Josepha (Meanus) Yahtin. He attended schools in Warm Springs and Madras. Yahtin was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and was a lifetime resident. He was employed as a firefighter for Warm Springs Fire Management. He is survived by his mother Josepha Crowe and his father Chesley Yahtin. Also surviving is a son Randy Yahtin, Jr.; brothers Chesley Yahtin, Jr., Owens Yahtin, Walter Payne, Richard Payne, Jr., Henry Yahtin, Tim Yahtin and Virgil Watson; and sisters Linda Meanus, Minnie Yahtin, Josie Payne-Williams and Dorothy Yahtin. He was preceded in death by a sister, Idelia Yahtin 1989; and brothers, Edgar Yahtin, 1 978; Elliott Yahtin, 1987; Gilbert Yahtin, 1983; Everett Yahtin, 1961 and infant boy Yahtin, 1966. Dressing ceremonies were Mon day, March 28 at the Simnasho Longhouse with Silas Williams and Alexander Tohet officiating. Pierson Mitchell and Wilson Wewa offici ated at overnight services. Suppah passed away March 19, 1994 at Warm Springs as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident. She was bom March 25, 1970 at Madras to parents Delson & Pat (Allen) Suppah. She attended schools in Warm Springs and Ma dras. She was employed caring for her grandmother at her time of death. Traditional dressing ceremonies were held Sunday, March 20, 1994 at Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home in Madras. Following the dressing, fu neral services were held at the Full Gospel Church and the Agency Longhouse in Warm Springs. Burial services took place Monday, March 21, 1994 at Seekseequa Cemetery in Warm Springs. She is survived by her parents Pat Allen of Warm Springs and Delson Suppah of Ft. Hall, Idaho, brothers Roman Suppah of Warm Springs, Delson Suppah, Jr., Noah Suppah of FL Hall, ID and sister Lucy Suppah also of Ft. Hall, ID., grandmother Cordelia Kneeland of Grand Ronde, OR and great-grandmother Pauline Johnson of Warm Springs, OR. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home in Madras, OR. Stella McKinley Stella McKinley a lifetime resi dent of Warm Springs passed away March 20, 1994 at her home follow ing a long illness. She was 83 years of age. Mrs. McKinley was born June 15, 1910 at Log Springs to Jackson and Mary (Charles) Culps. She mar ried Clarence McKinley atSimnasho, OR in 1928. They had 14 children. She was an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. She had many accomplish ments. She became a member of the Shaker Religion in 1942 and was very active in her religion until her death. She served on the enrollment committee for the Confederated Tribes and helped with the Culture and Heritage Committee. She did seasonal work for various fanners in the Madras area and worked in the Willamette Valley picking berries. She was also a ceremonial leader she officiated at many funerals, ceremo nial marriages and performed bap tisms as a minister of the Shaker Religion. Dressing ceremonies took place at Bel-Air Funeral home Monday, March 21, 1994. Overnight services followed at the Warm Springs Shaker Church. Burial was on Tuesday, March 22, 1994 at sunrise at the Wolfe Point Cemetery. Pat Tanewasha officiated. Survivors in clude four (4) daughters, Iva Pennington, Inez McKinley and Joyce Surface of Warm Springs and Madeline Baker of Seattle, 20 grand children, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews from Washington and Oregon. She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1983, Leroy McKinley 1937, Iva McKinley 1934, Infant McKinley 1936, Vera McKinley Gilbert 1973, Clarence McKinley, Jr. 1941, Robert C. McKinley 1944, Lyle McKinley 1947, James McKinley 1948 and Nelson McKinley 1979. Also pre ceding her were two brothers, Elmer Bob Culps and Willie Culps; four sisters, Sarah Scott, Minnie Jackson, Millie Culps and Levina Culps.
