The driver has the responsibility toobtain a valid Oregon license. Out of state licenses are permitted only under special cir cumstances. Out of stale licenses are valid for 30 days after which an Or egon State License is required. (b) Specialty Equipment Licenses. When specialty licenses are required by the State of Oregon for certain types of vehicles, then the driver must obtain the appropriate special license in order to operate that vehicle. Ex ample: To drive a bus you need a Class 2 License or Chauffeurs Li cense. (c) Safe Vehicle Operation. All drivers must operate the vehicle in a safe, defensive, and responsible manner and observe all traffic laws, regulations, and established prac tices. For safety, seat belts shall be worn by all occupants at all times. (d) Securing Unattended Vehicles. Drivers must remove the keys, set the parking brake, lock all doors, and close the windows when leaving a vehicle unattended, lnoai venicies Bowling tournament very To the editor, The 16th Annual Indian Holiday Bowling Tournament, held Decem ber 27, 28, & 29, 1991, has once again had a successful year. This year's tournament was held in memory of "Doris Ann Wolfe", a long-time bowler in the Warm Springs Leagues. The family of Doris contributed to the success of the tournament by donating four jackets that went to the women's team champions: The Wide Spot Pound ers Joni David, Shirley Sanders, Missy David, and Allee Jackson, the family also donated two Pendleton blankets to the high individual handicap series to Missy David with a 692 and Satch Miller with a 744. Nice Bowling! The committee would like to thank the family of Doris for their time, effort, and help with this year's tournament. We realize that having any memorial is a hard thing to do and we would like to thank the fam ily for their donations, support, and participation in the tournament. All ve hicles must be refueled at the Tribal Vehicle Pool using the Kardloc sys tem. When refueling the vehicle, the driver must perform the following: Input the current odometer reading; Check the engine oil; Check the fluid levels; Clean windows; Check service sticker for next ser vice; Make a walk-around inspec tion of vehicle; Report any defects to Vehicle Pool staff. (0 Flat Tires. Drivers are respon sible for knowing how to change a flat tire. Heavy equipment and spe cialty trucks will be serviced only by trained Vehicle Pool staff. (g) Vehicle Appearance. Vehicle ' operators are responsible for wash ing and cleaning their assigned ve hicles bi-weekly. The vehicle pool wash rack is for use in keeping ve hicles clean. Soap, hand towels, win dow cleaner, wash clothes, vacuum cleaner, and car wax is available from the Vehicle Pool Parts Manager. The driver must keep the vehicle free of all trash. Drivers will be personally responsible for pay ment of any traffic citations inclined while operating a tribal vehicle. This policy covers any and all types of tickets. 0) Seat Belts. Seat belts will be worn by all occupants at all tics for their safety. (k) No Smoking Policy. As stated in Resolution 8007, there is to be no smoking in tribal vehicles. If adriver is alone, then smoking is allowed. If there are other passengers, then only if it is agreed by all occupants is smoking allowed. 0) Insurance Policy. The insur ance policy states that only employ ees of the Confederated Tribes and their subordinates will be covered while on company business. Giving hitchhikers or non-employees a ride is discouraged. (m) Driver's Training. This is the second year now the tournament committee has donated a $100 added purse to the mixed team champions. Next year, we the com mittee, would like to try for a $100 added purse to all the team events mixed team, mens team, ladies team, and this would be an added prize fee to all entries collected. Maxwell, a resident of Dayton, Or egon, and former resident of Madras, Oregon, died December 24, 1991 at a hospital in McMinnville. No ser vices were held, and the burial was private. Maxwell was born October 31, 1921 in Newberg to E. Miles and Gladys (Emmerson ) Maxwell. He was raised and educated in Dayton. He married Phyllis Wright in Day ton, on September 14, 1941. The couple lived in several locations throughout Oregon, before moving to Madras in 1958. Where they lived until his retirement in 1984. He was a volunteer on the Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days Committee and he was an employee of the Confederated Howlak Tichum Flora Sue Scott Flora Sue Scott passed away De cember 23, 1991 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon. Scott, 32, was born September 15, 1959 in Redmond, Oregon to Samuel Charles Scott and Aurelia (Moody) Stacona. She attended schools in Portland, Madras and received her high school diploma in Seattle, Washington. After high school she attended Teller Training School in Seattle, Wash ington. She had moved back to Warm Springs just one year ago after living in Kent, Washington. One of her special interests were Missionary work as an evangelist. And she enjoyed singing and was a member of the True Destiny Concert Choir and the Washington Mass Choir both from the Seattle area. She was also a member of the Warm Springs Full Gospel Church.
