A . e 7 . w . o Docs everyone have similar problems as Spilyay Tymoo around here? One of the biggest problems is trying to get through to other departments. Com munication seems to be one of the biggest downfalls and peo ple don't want to get into the act. There have been several meet ings with all department heads and it appears that everyone is willing to do his "Thing." Well, that's as long as the chairman has the gavel in hand. But just as soon as the meeting is over and everyone leaves they fall back into the same old rut or settle back in his shell once again and things continue as they were before. People are afraid to speak up. Some look as though they are afraid of their own shadows. They are afraid they might say the wrong thing. There are several projects going on around here that the tribal members might be interested in, seeing what's happening and what's going on in this organization. Several calls are made trying to get information on various projects or other incidents that take place but it seems that when they find out it's Spilyay Tymoo they find all the reasons to avoid talking or giving any information. They usually tell the secretary that they are tied up at the moment and will call back as soon as they are free.. .Ha! Does the phone ring on this end?... You guessed it Nope. But if anything goes wrong and Spilyay Tymoo is on the "Hot Seat," the supervisors come back and say, "All they had to do was give us a call !" The run-around or passing the buck, that seems like it's the way to go. If there was a contest on passing the buck around here it would be a tough job for the judges. Well, maybe I should just worry about the little things, like what's happening in Iran, East and West Berlin 'n stuff like that and let everyone else worry about what's taking place here. "NIGH or MISH UN-CHA." People made rodeo successful I he Warm Springs Kodco As sociation thanks all the businesses and individuals lor hclpingto make the I WO Pi-Ume-Sha Rodeo a big success. I hey have assisted with financial support, donated an item, service or labor, provided moral support, or positively helped in some way. Apology extended to community To the People of Warm Springs, I would like to apologize to the people of Warm Springs for violat ing the Warm Springs Tribal Law Order Code, Chapter 350 Section 530.520 (3) Ceremonial hunt in a closed area. Late last year I was involved in a ceremonial hunt off the reserva tion. I was arrested by the Oregon State Game Officer for hunting in an area that was closed to all hunt ing. Since I was representing the Tribe in the hunting I should have made sure I was in the proper area for the hunt. I didn't intentionally hunt in a closed area. At the time I thought I was in thepropcrarca for the hunt. This case created a lot of talk and could have caused prob lems for the Tribes and for this rea son I apologize to the people. I would never intentionally jeopard ize any of the Tribes Treaty Rights by breaking any law. TSiank you, Andrew David, Tribal Member Braves play undefeated league champions With good hard work on and off the practice and game field, they played a fantastic season, winning the 8-10 year old division. By win ning 12 games and losing 0, going undefeated. Being number I in any sport activity knowing you did it, is a great feeling. Some kids never get the chance till later on. We're grateful to the parents for their support. That makes the job that much easier with no interference. For to all parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, etc. their little ath letes are considered great little players, or superstars. I've seen the past 20 vears of working and coaching youth pro grams, Problems some coaches go through when they've got no con trol, meaning sideline family inter ference. It makes their jobs that much tougher teaching the kids the game. When you try pleasing ev eryone you end up no where, I've learned that in the past years of coaching. "Now I've got my set rules." The only ones that get hurt are the kids, especially when they're willing to learn, and want to play the game, "People have to remem ber most coaches, are volunteers, and are not getting paid, and should at least be given the con sideration for being there," if Toe Ness SPILYAY SEZ: "Good girls go to heaven, ever they want to!" Clem: "Ah tells her da truth all dah time, even ifn ah has to lie once in a while." YIKES SS SS SS There was this redneck who went to the bank to cash a check. Since he didn't have an account there the teller asked if he could identify himself. Redneck: "Do you have a mirror?" Yes, right beside you. The redneck glanced into the mirror and gave a sigh of relief, "Yeah, that's me alright." YIKES SS SS SS This teenage girl told her boyfriend, "Wouldn't it be just neat if you knew the time and place you were to die?" Boyfriend: "What good would that do?" Girl: "I wouldn't show up!" YIKES SSSS SS someone feels they can do a better job, inform the Community Center and start coaching. In behalf of the team and my great assistant coach, my wife Mercedes Suppah, I had an Honor song-sung by Blacklodge, dedica ted to them through KWSO, they well deserved it. I have enjoyed working with them and all the kids these past 15 years. They're our future and the most important re source of the reservation. To all the parents who have given me their support and the opportunity to work and coach their kids. God Bless You all, and may He above watch over and guide you and yours always, your fantastic.
