One the fourth try, when the fire fighters located him, Wolfe was “lifeless —he was not breathing and there was no pulse,” said Huff. Wolfe was rescued from the second floor room through a window and down a ladder. Once Wolfe was outside, EMTs administered CPR, oxygen and started an I.V. Wolfe was stabalized at Mt. View and later transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, where he is listed in “fairly good” condition. “Our guys did a fantastic job in saving his (Wolfe’s) life,” said Huff. He also said that the doctors commended the crew for their “professionalism. Had it not been for that, Wolfe wouldn’t be alive. He had a very high amount of carbon monoxide in his blood and lungs,” said Huff. Cause of the Wolfe fire has not been determined, but it was “probably caused by a fireplace insert,” said Huff. Huff estimated that about 80% of the Wolfe’s personal belongings were lost and the house was probably 85% destroyed, “It’s gutted. The garage and lower level are still intact, but there’s a lot of water damage.” The family has expressed the need for clothes.
