Until several years ago the bucking animals used in the rodeos were wild horses off the W a rm S p r in g I n d ia n Reservation but following the outbreak of Equine Infectious Anemia in April of 1982 at the reservation the use of these animals was discontinued. At the present tim e r o d e o liv e s to c k contractors provided the bucking stock. For the rodeo people this was the beginning of the W e ste rn S ta te s In d ia n Rodeo Association season, for the many spectators it marked a spring “ritual” of enjoying the spring weather and a rodeo.
