Pag«« April 9,1982 April 9,1982 Page 7 Trip to Hawaii fulfills dreams for Simnasho students A visit to the Polynesian Culture Center gave visitors an oportunity to share some fo the south sea islands’ Culture. Here Mona Meanus demonstrates a Tahitian dance after a little instruction. Young Hawaiian students at Blanche Pope Elementary School awed at having Indian students performing for them. It was a experience for them, as well as for the Simnasho students. Unlike Oregon, the ocean water around the Hawaiian islands is an aqua-marine color and very warm. Simnasho visitors were warned of being too adventerous in the tides. Spilyay Tymoo photos Marsha Shewczyk Flowers grow abundantly on the island. They are pretty adorning one’s hair as well as being beautiful on the many trees and bushes on the island. Charlies Tailfeathers pins a bright flower in Nancy Tailfeathers hair. Aloha! (Welcome and goodbye.) Lorena Bil is glad to be home after a week away from home. A ll of the Simnasho troupe brought Hawaiian leis back to give to their awaiting families. il l ! Trees to climb in are a little different on the island of Oahu than they are in Warm Springs. Joshua Currey tries it out. The first performance by Simnasho students took palce at the llikai Hotel in Honolulu. They were well received.
