Retiring Officers Preside at Chapter Final meeting for the retiring officers of Trinity chapter. Order of Eastern Star, Friday evening at West Salem City Hall was pre sided over by Mrs. Rav Hoffman and Clarence C. Field, worthy matron and patron. They pre sented gifts to their officers ai'.d committee members in recognition of assistance given during the term. One of the projects of the mem bers during the period has been a signature tablecloth and it was presented to Mrs. Hoffman by Steven P. Rosenbaum and Mrs. Orval Graham who have been in charge of the project. The retir ing matron and patron were hon ored with an addendum and pre sented with gifts. A lighted Eastern Star emblem will bo installed on the West Sa lem hall as a farewell gift to the chapter from Mrs, Hoffman and Mr. Field. Public installation of the new of ficers will be, conducted on Fri day, March 29,' at the Scottish Rile Temple. Trinity Social club will meet Fri day, March 22, for a noon pot luck luncheon at the home of Mrs. Kay Hoffman, 2460 Lansing Ave nue. Birthday Party Janice iSusic) Carden. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Carden, celebrated her Hlh birthday anni versary, Friday. A group of her friends were entertained at Skate land. In the group were Marsha Anderson, Kay Nuber, Wanda Cade, Janet Shipman and Sharon Jlocaboe. They later went to Janice's home for refreshments, and additional guests were the honoree's grandmother, Mrs. Alice Carden; her cousins, Denny and Margie Pfeil, and her brother, Jimmy Carden. Burke Family Leaves Leaving Tuesday for Alamo, Calif, to make their home will be Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Burke and son and daughter, Richard and Elizabeth Burke. The elder son, James Burke, is a student at Stan lord university. The Burkes' new address will be 101 La Serena Ave., Alamo, Calif. Mr. Burke is now- the regional supervisor for the seven west coast large stores of Montgomery Ward company. He has been manager of the company store in Salem. ST. CATHERINE of Sienna Troop, Catholic Daughters of America, met last week at the home of Miss Roberta Thrush. Fol lowing a brief business session, during which Miss Jeanne Stone gave official reportsthe members spent the evening learning the new songs of the Catholic Daugh ters. Miss Wood Wed Here Saturday The marriage of Miss Marjoric Jean Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde H. Wood, Trumbull, Conn., to Lt. Loyal Dean Howard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph How ard of Salem, was solemnized Saturday afternoon at the First Methodist Church. The rites were at 2 o'clock, Dr. Brooks H. Moore officiating. Pink stock and red carnations decorated the church for the wed ding. Miss Barbara Anderson sang and Prof. Josef Schnelker played the organ. The bride wore an ankle length ivy silk dress, styled with Em pire waistline and a flowered lace bodice, the scoop neckline and short sleeves trimmed with se quins; and a very full skirt. The illusion veil was held by a scal loped crown of lace trimmed in sequins and pearls. The bride car ried a small bouquet of white lilies and daisies. Matron nf honor was Mrs. James D. Geddcs. She wore a sheath dress of rose textured taf feta win a matching overskirl. Miss Ann Notson. Miss Maureen Day and Miss Gayle Rogers were the bridesmaids. Their dresses were similar in style to that worn by the honor attendant but in shades of pink. All attendants carried bouquets of pink and red daisies and carnations. LI. George Fitzgerald was best man. Ushers were Harry Moritz, Sgt. Walter Grattan and James Demetre. The bride's mother wore a corn flower blue ensemble with white orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a wedgewood blue lace and linen dress with corsage of white orchids. Following the services there was a reception in the Carrier room of the church. Miss Sharon Laverty poured and Mrs. Walter Grattan and Miss Julie Mellor cut the cake. Assisting were Misses Mary Beth Van Cleave, Sandi Harris and Connie Clark. For traveling the bride wore a brown, black and beige tweed suit with brown and beige accessories. The bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. G. B. Rundstrom of Seattle, formerly of Salem, and Mr. Dahlen is the, son of Mr. and Mrs. R..W, Dahlen of this city. The Rev. Mr. Rundstrom offi ciated at the 8 o'clock ceremony, assisted, by the Rev. A. Hokonson of Everett, Wash. Mrs. Clyde Loh- man and Arnold Lunnum, both of Seattle, were soloists. Miss Lydia Pederson of Seattle the organist. Lighting the candles were Miss Nola Van Wechel of Portland and Miss Gladys Buhler of Salem. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress of Chan tilly lace and tulle. The fitted lace bodice was styled with square neckline and long sleeves. The bouffant skirt of the lace featured scalloped panels in the front and at the sides, alternate tiers of lace and tulle in the back falling into a chapel train. The pillbox head dress of appliqued lace on tulle was trimmed with seed pearls and crystal tear drops, and held in place a fingertip nylon tulle veil. The bridal bouquet was of white flowers. Mrs. Don Geortzen, sister of the bride, was honor attendant. Mrs. Johnny Roner, Miss Helen Mclby and Miss Berdena Wackerbarth, all of Salem, were bridesmaids. All the attendants were attired in identical frocks of garnet taffela. made in princess lines, with short sleeves, deeply scooped necklines edged with standup, flared bands; and light blue taffeta cummer bunds finished with large bows in back and floor length streamers.
