A large number of members and guests were in attendance. Pic tures taken from many gardens in Portland, Tacoma. British Col umbia and other northwest places and several from Vermont gardens were shown. Mrs. Worthington, former editor of the Primrose Quarterly, was ac companied to Mount Angel by Mr. Worthington, and Mrs. John P. 'Ilannon of "Hannon Acres," Port lland. The visitors were presented by Mrs. 0. J. Williams, president of the Mount Angel Garden club. Primroses, grown extensively here, ' are featured at the prim rose flower show staged annually by the Mount Angel club. The show this vear is scheduled for Sunday, April 28, at St. Mary's school. The date for a garden tour In Portland, sponsored by Claud Mills, Portland, has been tenta tively set for Thursday, May 9. Mrs. Ed Bicklcr and Arthur Holmes, Salem, received the two primrose plants presented by Mrs. Vyorthington, and others receiving awards were Mrs. Paul Slide, Mrs. John Hammelman, Mrs. S. C. Schmitt, Mrs. J. L. Wachter, Vol na J. White, Mrs. Edna Willig, and Eymard Berning. Mrs. Albert Bochslcr. Attendants were Miss Katharine Truax of Lebanon and Earl Fairchild of Dallas. The couple is at home at 820 Park street. Mrs. Vohland op erates Ethel's Beauty shop. Mulkey, noble grand, presid ing. Visitors from Molalla, Monitor, Scotts Mills, Saler. and Portland attended and were presented with Valentine favors. Mrs. Waller Lar sen, good of the order. chairman, gave tributes based on friendship night, the Valentine observance and a brief account ot ine state birthday on February 14. Mrs. Karl Haberly presented a Valentine's cake to Mrs. Mulkey. Invitations accepted were from Harmony Rebekah lodge for in stallation of officers at the district convention in Gervais, March 30, and from Lyons Rebekahs for a 50th anniversary program on March 9. The Triple Link club will meet February 27 at the home of Mrs. Clay Allen. A visit of the Bloodmobile to Silverton will be sponsored by Sil ver lodge No. 21,' lOOF, and Tryphena lodge and named from the latter group to assist during the visit were Mrs. Lyle McClure, Mrs. Forrest Zetterberg, and Mrs. John Beals. Next meeting of the lodge will be February 28 with a program honoring the February anniversa ries of Lincoln and Washington. Mrs. Lyle McClure and Mrs, Zetterberg were named as a tele phone committee for the year, Silverton Scout Group Entertained SILVERTON (Special) - Mrs,' Sheldon Johnson was hostess to the Silverton district. Girl Scouts Fri day evening. Anouncements were made concerning the activities of the organization throughout the spring months. Mrs. G. L. Collier, chairman, presided and plans for observance of Girl Scout weeks March 8-25 were made. March 10 will be Girl Scout Sunday with the troops at tending he different local churches in groups. March 12 will be an all scout skating party at Skateland rink in Salem with the Boy Scouts participating. An annual feature of the Girl Scouts during their .-anniversary month will be the cookie sale, this year in charge of Mrs. John Lai ickcr. Funds from the sale of the cookies are used for aYca projects, with each individual troop recciv---ing a portion of the profit for their own treasury. A junior high planning board consisting of . representatives of each troop in the 7th and 8th grade is being organized to coordinate their activities. , 1 Senior Girl Scouts will present a program on camping at the spring council meeting in Albany, April 30. The local dislrict plans to have a Girl Scout festival in May for the. general public, an nouncement of details to be later. Social Club Meeting DONALD (Special) -Ahc next meeting of the Social club of Venus chapter, Order of the East ern Star, will be at the home of Mrs. Irma Leek at Fargo, on Fri day, March 1, beginning with a dessert at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Robert Colvin, worthy matron, has announced that the group will put on a rummage sale in the old Cycle shop in Wooclburn on Saturday, February 23. Anyone having articles to do nate tor this sale is asked to con tact Mrs. Colvin or Mrs. Eugene Trucsdell. Saturday will be the second day . of rummage selling for the group this week. At the regular mceiing of the chapter nn Friday evening, t h e new rug purchased by the chapter was dedicated. Mrs. Lorln Giesy gave a review of the activities of the social club which were re sponsible for raising the money to purchase the rug. Mrs. Colvin designated this meeting as "obligation night" and a degree was given and all mem bers present renewed their obli gations. Following the meeting Rickey Kahlc and Jerry Leiscr played several numbers on their accor dions, and cherry pie was served by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shannon and Mr. and Mrs. Boh Armstrong. The tables were decorated in the Val entine theme, DALLAS (Special) - Members of the Dallas Business and Pro fessional Women's club entertained their employers at their annual bosses' night dinner last week at Ihe Chamber of Commerce rooms. Guest speaker (or the evening was Dr. Edgar Smith from Oregon College of Education. Entertain ment for the evening featired an exhibition by members of the local square dance club, the Dallas Hoppers. DALLAS (Special) - The Polk County Federation of Rural Wom en's clubs will give iLs annual friendship tea at the home of Mrs. Harry Dempsey. at Rickreall. Wednesday, February 20, from J to 5 p.m. Theme for the affair will be patriotic, in honor of the February birthdays of Lincoln and Washington and various clubs of the fedcraiion will present pro gram numbers.
