The affair will be at 6:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Dewey, Jr., the supper no-host. Alumnae are invit ing their husbands as guests. Miss Alcnc (Peg) Phillips, executive as sistant to Secretary of the Interior Douglas McKay, is to be speaker to tell of her trip to Europe, also to highlight some of her experiences in Washington. Miss Phillips is hero for most of August. lISITORS being entertained at a number of parties are Judge and Mrs. Thomas Grubbs of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, who are guests of Mrs. Grubbs' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds Allen. On Tuesday evening of next week, Mr. and Mrs. Allen are to be hosts at an at home for their guests, friends being invit ed to call between 5:30 and 8 o'clock. As sisting the hosts will he Mr and Mrs. James C. Slone, Mr. and Mrs. Otlo Skopii, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Homer L. Goulet, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Heltzel. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Skupil, Jr are enter taining for the visitors at dinner on August 21, and Mrs. Leon l'erry is plan ning a luncheon on August 23 for Mrs. Grubbs. With Mr. and Mrs. Grubbs is their daugh ter, Sarah, who is observing her ninth birthday on August 22. Mrs. Allen is ar ranging a party that day for her niece. DELTA Delta Delta sorority alumnae plan a picnic supper for next Mon day night at 6:30 o'clock at the home o Mrs. Ralph Mercer, route 5, Box 23. Active members of the sorority will be guests. Those attending are to take their own table service, and picnic supper. On the committee with Mrs. Mercer are Miss Bertha Kohlhagen, Miss Zelma Busch, Mrs. George C. Huggins, Jr. and Mrs. Richard Joining. Mrs. Lucile Beeler, formerly of Salem and now of Inglewood, Calif., will arrive Sunday for a visit here next week with friends and relatives. Mrs. Beeler, who when she was in Salem was with the Capi tal Journal and is now with the Engle wood Daily News, will be here until Friday when she leave here for Grants Pass where she will visit with Miss Harriett Dennis, also a former Salem resident. Members of Salem Snroptimist club have been invited to a picnic to be given by the Corvallis club next Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Irene Ilecter between Albany and Corvallis. The supper will be al 6:30 o'clock. It will he an intercity af fair, members of the F.llgone club also being invited to join the Salem and Cor vallis groups. Leaving Wednesday tor Seattle will be Justice and Mrs. Walter L. Tooze. Justice Tooze will go on north for a fishing trip with a group of Portland and Seattle friends on the Campbell river, Mrs, Tnoze to remain in Seattle for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Preston Kaller. William Seemnn of New York City was a guest of the Toozes for the day, Friday. Amonc those lo lake in the Shakospear en Festival at Ashland the latter part of the week will be Mrs. Prince W. Ryrd and Mrs. A. C. F. Perry. Mrs. Lila P. Crowe and Dale L. Sheridan Were married on Friday night at a simple service at the Firsl Methodist church. I)r. Brooks Mnore officiated. Mr. Sheridan is the son of Mrs. Henry Ahrcns of Turner. The church was decorated with red and white gladioluses ami blue summer blooms. Marlin Nelson and Ted Tucchok lighted the candles. Mrs. Donald Clark, the bridesmaid, was also attired in blue. Mrs. Ahrcns wore a pink linen jacket dress and white accessories for her son's wedding. Her corsage was of pink roses. JERRY WHIPPLE AND CHILDREN AMONG newcomers being welcomed to Salem are Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Whipple and family, Mr. Whipple being director of development on the administrative office staff at Willamette university. Pink, White Theme for Wedding A pink and white decor marked the wed ding of Miss Sandra Marion Van Blaricom and Barry R. Adams who were married this afternoon at a service in St. Mark Lutheran church. The vows were said at 4 o'clock, the Rev. John R. Cauble officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Van Blaricom and Mr. Adams is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Adams of Oswego. The altar and organ were decorated with pink and white carnations and the altar baskets were filled with pink and white gladioluses. Pink ribbons decorated the pews. Lighting the candles were Miss JoAnn Marv and Miss Zora Hiebenthal, the lat ter of Dallas. The two wore pink net over taffeta frocks and pink and white wrist corsages. For the music, Mrs. B. J. Williams sang and Maurice Brcnnen played the organ. For' the wedding the bride wore a full length white embroidered organdy, a re dingote covering a white tulle under dress and styled with Peter Pan collar and point ed sleeves. The fingertip veil of illusion was held by a crown of seed pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses. Mr. Van Blaricom gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Maralee Berg of Vancouver, Wash, was honor attendant. She wore a pink and white dotted Swiss organdy, in strapless bo dice style with small jacket. She carried a nosegay of pink and white carnations. Patrick Adams was best man for his brother. Ushering were Robert Knight and Rob ert Janes of Oswego, David Stump of Mon mouth, Glen Grant of Longvicw, Wash. The bride's mother wore a gray dress with pink accessories and corsage of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a light blue suit with navy accessories and corsage of white carnations. The reception was arranged in the church social rooms following the service. Cutting the cake was Miss Marcia Yodcr of Molalla. Miss Beverly Bluhm and Miss Mary Ann Pcdcrson of Milwaukic poured. Others as sisting were Miss Shirley Plummer, Miss Jeanine O'Hern, Miss Jean Patten, Miss Arlene Sneddon, Miss Sharon Bandy, all of Salem, Miss Glenna Ridenhous of Dal las, Miss Judi Adams, sister of the bride groom, Miss Sally Van Blaricom, sister of the bride, Miss Irene Jensen of Monmouth. For traveling the bride wore an avocado box-type suit with white gloves and hat and avocado accessories. Following a trip to the beaches, the couple will be at home at 140 North Knox, Monmouth. Mrs. Clair Meiscl has invitations in the mail this weekend for an informal coffee for which she will be hostess next Friday, August 19, at her home at McMinnville. Guests are being invited to call between 10:30 and 1 o'clock and will include a large group cf Salem friends, and friends of Mrs. Meisel's daughter, Susan Thomas, and their mothers. Arriving in Oregon next Wednesday will be Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clabaugh and chil dren, Sally and Mark. The Clahaughs are now residing in Redding, Calif, and for merly lived in Salem. They will be here five days. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Specht and children, Susan and Gregory are spending the week end in Tillamook at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Specht. Gregory and Susan will spend the week there with their aunt and uncle and then he at Ncskowin the last week in August with their parents. Mrs. Homer G. Lyon. Jr. was hostess for an informal supper. Friday night, a post poned birthday party for Mr Lyon and Mrs. Albert Wiesendangcr. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Wicsendanger, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rowan, Air. and Mrs. Hunt Clark and Mr. and Mrs. Lyon. Dr. and Mrs. Ralph M. Gordon are to be hosts for a dinner next Friday night at their home to honor their daughter, Miss Patricia Gordon, and her fiance, John S. Humphrey. The party will follow the re hearsal for the wedding of Miss Gordon and Mr. Humphrey, who are to be married on August 21. Mrs. Henry M. Hanzen and Mrs. Vernon Wiscarson will be hostesses for an informal coffee next Wednesday afternoon, guests to include neighborhood friends. The affair will be in the adjoining gardens of the two hostesses on South High. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Atherton are his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Atherton and daughters, Jurlv and Susan, from American Falls, Idaho. Mrs. A. J. St. Joseph's Catholic church was the scene for a beautiful weddine this morn ing when Aliss Margaret Anne Bach, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Peter Bach, was married to Janes George Wiemals, son of Mr. and Airs. Clement C. Wiemals. Large baskets of pink and white gladioluses dec orated the front of the church for the serv ice. Verne Esch and Lorraine Nelke sang pre ceding the ceremony, Alary Barton playing the organ. The service was at 11 o'clock, the Rev. Joseph Yandcrbeck officiating. Air. Bach escorted his daughter to the altar. The bride wore a Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over taffeta w-edding dress. It was styled with, fitted lace bodice, low rounded scalloped neckline formed of ap pliqued roses and short sleeves; and the lace blended at the hip level into the bouf fant tulle skirt made in chapel length. The full length imported silk illusion veil was arranged from a tiara of seed pearls and sequins. For her flowers the bride carried a cascade shaped bouquet of pink elfe roses and stephanotis. Five Attendants Aliss Norma Hamilton was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Airs. Paul R. Ril ey, Miss Shirley Coffey, Aliss Alary Cecile Rocque. Miss Alary Angela Suing All the attendants were dressed alike In white waltz-length frocks of dotted Swiss nylon over taffeta, fashioned with low square necklines nullinre by embroidered lace, bouffant skirts, and the lare outlining the draped waistlines. The five wore em broidered lace half-hats studded with pearls and sequins. The maid of honor car ried a cascade arrangement of pink carna tions and pink gladioluses, and the four bridesmaids' bouquets were of pink carna tions and white gladioluses. John A. Wiemals was best man for his brother. Ushering were Clement C. Wiemals, bro ther of the bridegroom, Paul R. Riley, Jo seph J. Schuetz, and Virgil Webber. The bride's mother wore a pink mauve suit trimmed in white, white accessories and a corsage of white elfe rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother wore a pink mauve suit with pink accessories and corsage of white rosebuds. Reception at Club The reception following the service was arranged at the American Legion club. The bride's table was set with a pink salin cloth and a five-tiered pillared cake sur rounded by pink and white gladioluses and candles. Mrs. Ralph S. Hamilton and Mrs. Willis L. Bach, sister-in-law of the bride, cut the cake. Pouring were Airs. Joseph Bach, aunt of the bride, and Aliss Ledwinnie Wiemals, aunt of the bridegroom. Assisting were Airs. Kenneth C. Hagg, Airs. Joseph Schuetz, Airs. Ray Christiansen, Airs. John Archer, Aliss Aleredith Haves, Aliss Kathy Dardis, Aliss Kathy Archer, Aliss Jackie Larson, Aliss Shirley Sommor. Aliss Kathy Bischotf, Aliss Atarne Christensen. Aliss tharyl Schuetz, .Misses Judv and Joan Hagg twin nieces of the bride. At the punch bowl was Airs. Clement C. Wiemals, Jr. The couple left on a trip to Victoria, B.C., the hride wearing a pink linen and satin ribbon sheath dress with white coat, pink straw hat and shoes, and a corsage of pink elfe rosebuds. The couple will be living in Las Vegas, rev. until after the first of the year.
