Method: Stir soup, water, garlic and pepper to taste together; chill. Wash and dry cucumber; partial ly pare so you have a striped ef fect; slice very thin; there should be ahout cup. All members of the club also are taking reservations. The club voted a campship for Girl Scouts at the meeting. has been teaching this past year at Washington State college. Giese of the engagement of her daughter, Miss Caroline Giese, to David Brinks, son of Mrs. James Brinks of Portland. No date is set for the wedding. The engagement first was told recently to college friends at West mont college in Santa Barbara, Calif. Miss Giese is a graduate of Sa lem schools and has completed her sophomore year at Westmont college. Mr. Brinks also was sophomore at the college this past year and is planning to continue his work at Portland State college next year. Goldenweds To Be Feted MACLEAY Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Nash, who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, are in viting relatives, friends and neigh bors through the press to an open house at their home on the Mac- leay road Sunday afternoon, June 26. Calling hours are from 2 until o clock. Mr. and Mrs. Nash, who were married at Brooks, have lived at their present home for the past 45 years.
