Kenneth Barker and daugh ter, Linda, formerly of Salem, left Saturday for their home in Eu gene following a few days visit here at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr, and Mrs. Dayl Burros. The wedding is planned for the fall. Calvary Baptist church was the scene of a beautifully arranged wedding Sunday afternoon when Miss Edna Manning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Manning, was married to Robert James Laughter, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Laughter of Fresno, Calif. The altar was banked with light ed tapers In candelabrums and baskets of white gladioluses, peo nies, Ester Reed daisies and blue delpiuniums. Tne pews were marked with Un daisies and pale blue delphiniums and closed with white satin cord. The Rev. Omar Barth officiated at the 4 o'clock ceremony. Miss Coralie Doughton sang, and Mrs, James Frances was organist, Michael Rear, Eugene, and Glenn Allen Rear, Reedsport, both cou sins of the bride, lighted the pers. Closing the aisles before the service were Misses Suzanne and Janet Rear, cousins of the bride, They wore pale blue organdie over taffeta dresses. Mr. Manning presented his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a dress of white Chantilly lace over, taffeta, styled with boat-shaped neckline and fitted sleeves, ending in an appliqued lace finish over tulle. The bouffant skirt was tulle, with an overskirt of lace. The fingertip illusion veil was lined with blue illusion, and cascaded from a jeweled tiara. The bride carried a white Job': Daughters Bible, marked with white orchid and stephinotis. Attendants la Blue Miss Cathryn Laughter, sister of Uw bridegroom, was maid of hon or. Her dress was delphinium blue organdie over taffeta, with seal. loped bouffant skirt, edged with deep pleating in taffeta. She car ried a parasol of American beauty satin and tulle, with white mar guerites and delphiniums. Bridesmaids were Miss Mary Weber, Albany, and Miss Janet MacDonald, both Delta Gamma sorority sisters of the bride. Their dresses were medium blue, styled like the honor attendant t,f They also carried parasols of American beauty satin and tulle, filled with marguerites and blue delphiniums. Flower girl was Margaret Long of Pendleton. Her dress was like the honor attendant's, and she carried a small parasol like the other at tendants'. The bride designed all the dresses, and made her wed ding dress. Donald Laughter, brother of Die bridegroom, was best man. Ush ers were Kent Laughter, brother of the bridegroom, Edward Ball, and Robert Keller. Mrs. Manning attended her daughter' wedding in a dress of coral lace and tulle over taffeta, with white accessories and a white orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother chose a navy blue tulle over matching taffeta dress, pow der blue accessories, ani a white orchid corsage. ' The reception was at the Delta Gamma sorority house at Willam ette university. The rooms were decorated in blue and while. The receiving line was in front of the fireplace. The bride's table was covered with an Italian cut work cloth, edged in lace. The bride's cake was ice blue and white, flanked by tall white tapers in sil ver candleholders and pleated tulle. The cake was surrounded by white carnations sprinkled with silver. The bridegroom's cake and ice cream balls were served from a table covered with white or gandie over blue, surrounded by Ester Reed daisies. Assist at Iteccptioa Cutting the bride's cake was Mrs. Malcolm MacDonald. Cutting the bridegroom a cake were Mrs. C. R. CD A Event WOODBURN The final meet ing until fall for Court Victory No. 793, Catholic Daughters of Amer ica, was last week at St. Luke's hall, with Mrs. John Doubrava, vice grand regent, presiding, in the absence of Mrs. Alvah G. Co wan. Mrs. Klli an Smith, Junior chair man for the past year, reported on the activities of the junior troops. It was voted to have the year books printed again this year. Ac tivities for the coming year were discussed. Refreshments were served by a committee, with Mrs. Howard Schutz. chairman. Others on the committee were Mrs. John Zer ian, Mrs. Joe Sowa, Mrs. Robert Vandehey, Mrs. A. J. Bleha, Mrs. Ben Baune, Mrs. Mary Hanel, Mrs. A. M. Heidt and Mrs. Harry Kesteu. PAST MATRONS club, Order of Eastern Star, met Friday night for the final event of the season. Mrs. Russell E. Pratt showed pictures, and talked of her recent trip in the south and east. In August, the club will go to Lincoln, for a Sunday picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. w. u Lewis, MRS. K. F. HOBBS and son Bobby, of Fresno, Calif., former - ly of Salem, are visiting here as guests of her mother, Mrs. Eliza beth Bray. . VISITING In the cnpilnl are Mr. and Mrs, Donald Black and family of Los Angeles', former re sidents of Salem. Mr. Black some years ago was on the advertising Staff of the Capital Journal. MR. AND MRS. John Keller, of Logan, Ohio, have been visiting at the home of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Karl V. Pease. The Kel lers are traveling in the west, and left Friday morning for Los An geles, Calif. 1 i with lodge session following. Monday, June 28. the auxiliary is presenting a program, and refresh ments for the Rebekah lodge. Mrs. Cora Van Pelt is arranging the program. Refreshment committee includes: Mrs. Charley Neubauer, Miss Wllda Siegmund, Mrs. Vic toria Stifflcr, Mrs. Howard Hun- saker, and Mrs. Floyd West. At the auxiliary meeting, July 2, the losing team of the contest will serve refreshments to the winning team. Club Vins Award LEBANON The national cert ificate for achievement in home and garden was awarded the Leb anon club for its annual herb tea. The presentation was made to Mrs Peter F. Smith, local club presl ileni, last week, In Ashland, at the Oregon Federation of Garden clubs annual convention and award banquet. In 1948 the Lebanon club was the recipient of a national purple rib bon for the herh tea. The Lebanon exhibit at the con vention was a miniature herb garden modeled after the V. Blonde Dorothy Jane Peder son, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Pederson, was a pretty bride of Saturday when her marriage to Clyde Herbert Fahlman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Fahlman of Eugene, was solemnized in St Paul's Episcopal church. The service was at 8 o'clock in the evening, the- Rev. George H. Swift officiating. Baskets of white gladioluses and white and pink snapdragons were arranged at the church chancel rail for the service and on the altar were vases of sweet peas and pink and white snap dragons. . Ronald Craven was soloist. Miss Ruth Bedford playing the organ. Acolytes for the service were David Bradshaw and Steven Berglund. The bride's dress was off Chan tilly lace and nylon tulle over taffeta. The bodice was designed with squire neckline, outlined by cutuots of the lace, and there was pleated nylon tulle across, both in front and back. The long pointed sleeves tapered over the hands. Lace trimmed the front of the skirt, extending in scallops to the back and into the chapel lengin train. Tne fingertip veil of nylon tulle was arranged from a bandeau of lace that was trimmed with seed pearls. The bride carried her Rainbow Bible with a white orchid and ribbon streamers caught with stephano- tis. sne wore the gilt from the bridegroom, a watch matching ner rings. Mr. Pederson gave bis daughter in marriage. Six Attendants Miss Edna Manning (who be came Mrs. Robert James Laugh ter on sunaay afternoon) was honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Miss Phyllis Pearson of Portland, Miss Audrey Campbell of Oswego, Miss Sue Riddles barger of Eugene and Mrs. Jer rol Arnold of Salem. All attendants wore turauoise silk shantung frocks, ballerina length, a fold of the material around the square necklines forming the short sleeves, and very iuii sKirts extending from the fitted bodices with a bow at one side. All carried cascade bouquets of daisies and sweet peas, ribbons matching the dresses. They also wore daisies in their hair. - Young Miss Karen Pederson, sister of the bride, was junior attendant. She wore a floor length frock in the- same color as those worn by the other at tendants, and she also carried the bouquet .of daisies and sweet peas. Donald Collin of Portland was best man. The ushers were Arn old Pederson, brother of the bride, Andrew Berwick of Eu gene, Fred Turner of Portland and James Crittenden. The bride's mother wore a dustry rose lace dress with white accessories and corsage of white roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue shantung dress with white trim, whl'e and navy accessories and corsage of white roses. , At Reception The reception following was in the church parish hall. Cut ting the cake were Mrs. John Loeven, Mrs. John Meir, Mrs. Floyd McCall, Mrs. Arthur Krohn of McMinnville. Pouring were Mrs. Robert Smith, Mrs. David Eason, Mrs. Wayne Henry, Mrs. W. Wells Baum. Assisting were Miss Mary Schoewiler, Miss Dor othy Carlson, Miss Joan Rade macher, Miss Norma Wilson, Mrs. Julius Haagenson, Mrs.- J. B. Haatfenson. Miss Ann Dielschnei- der, Miss Barbara Ospain. For going away the bride wore a sky blue summer suit, outlined in pearls around the neckline, black taffeta hat, white jacket and black and white accessories. The couple will drive across country following a trip to the beaches and Portland, and will be in Georgia, Mr. Fahlman to be at Fort Benning. Out-of-town guests attending the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Millhouse of Willis ton, N. D., grandparents of the bride, and her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Haagenson of Minot. N. D and their daughter, Mrs. Robert Smith and her two sons. LEAVING Monday morning for her home in Vancouver, B. C following a visit here was Mrs. Jeanette Jones, formerly of Sa lem.
