The annual mid-summer picnic will be on July 25 at the K. D. Crahtree summer home on the Little North Fork of the Santiam. KPIRITl'AL Sunflower club will meet Thursday at 1 o'clock a' the Spiritualist church. Hostesses will be Mrs. Ben Trosper and Mrs. Joe Voegtlin. Shrine Installation .. On Monday Evening Willamette shrine, No. 2, White Shrine of Jerusalem, met for pub lic installation of 1954 officers in the Masonic temple, Monday Bight Special guests were pres ent from Portland, Eugene, The Palles, Vancouver, and Kelso, Wash. Musical selections were given by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor of Albany. Mrs. Marion Crouse, worthy high priestess of Eugene thrine, and Mrs. G. H. Rickard, worthy high priestess of Oregon shrine, Portland, poured. Mrs. Dsn B. Roth was chairman of the decorating committee. Mrs. Dorr M. Shreve, worthy high priestess, will leave April 30 for the national White Shrine convention in Chicago May 4, at Medinab Mosque. Mrs. Miller B Hayden and Mrs. C. P. Davis will also attend the convention. HOSTS to a group for dinner and bridge last evening were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Rogers. DRAMA CLUB members met Tuesday for luncheon at the home of Mrs. J. E. No date is set for the wedding. The engagement was told recently at the bride-elect's sorority, Delta Gamma, at Oregon State col lege. Miss Prall attended Willamette two years before going to OSC. Mr. Grubb also is a junior at Oregon State and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Rotana President Visits in Salem Mrs. Mary Booth of Helena. Mont, national president of Ho- Una clubs, was a visitor here Tuesday night to meet with the Salem Rotana club. Miss Dowe Bride-Elect Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dowe, route 1, Aumsville, are announcing the engagement of their daughter. Miss Jean Elaine Dowe ot Salem, to Edgar J. Fennimore. son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Fennimore, route 1. Silverton. No date has been set for the wedding. The announcement of the betrothal was made at a family dinner on Easter Sunday. Miss Dowe is a graduate of Cas cade union high school and is em ployed in the state fire marshal's office in the state house. Mr. Fen nimore recently returned from Al aska and is employed by a con struction company at Mt. Angel. HOME from a trip to Indiana is Mrs. Charles Campbell. She vis ited her son, Tim, who is attend ing Culver Military academy, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jo seph Wagerman at Winamac. AAUW Visitor Dr. Helen D. Bragdon, national general director, American Asso ciation of - University Women, W ashington, D. C . is to be a visitor in Oregon next Monday. Portland branch of the AACW is honoring the visitor at a dinner and meet ing Monday night. Mrs. Robert Y. Thornton, state AAUW president, and Mrs. Floyd L. Utter, past president of Salem unit, are among those planning to attend the meeting for Dr. Brag don. Engagement Told Mr. and Mrs. Olin Cross ate announcing the engagement of their daughter, Miss Colleen Cross, to lioss H. Shannon, son oi Mr. and Mrs. Alien Shannon. The weddms will be at the First Baptist church June 25. Miss Cross is a graduate of Sa lem High school, and is employed here. Mr. Shannon attended Tilla mook High school, was in the navy four years, and is now in tile work in Salem. New Group Entertained First business meeting for the newly organized Gamma Gamma chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Robert Sandstrom. Mrs. Deryl Currie of Beta Sig ma chapter presented the pledge pin to Mrs. Thomas Elliott. Committee chairmen in the group were named as follows: Miss lone Persson, parlia mentarian; Mrs. Alvin Hoeraus, historian: Miss Lillie Yee, jon quil girl; M-s. David Kowits, ways and means chairman: Mrs. Gerald Bigler, social chairman; Mrs. Tnomas Elliott, publicity chairman. Mrs. Sandstrom was named delegate from the chapter to the state convention at La Grande on April 24. BECAUSE of the convention of the Oregon Federation of Dance Series Planned at YW Beginning on Friday, April 30 at the YWCA, no date junior high school age group dances will be sponsored. These dances, which will be al ternating weeks with the senior high age group, will be in the new YWCA gymnasium as no date affairs. Dance instruction is being planned and as well as dance mixers. The first dance for the high school group will be May 21. Dances will begin at 8 o'clock and end at 10 o'clock for the juniors and 11 o'clock for the seniors. Parents will act as chaperons and those interested in chaperon ing may call the YWCA for information. Women's clubs in. Portland this week, the regular meeting of Salem Woman's club on Friday has been postponed.
