Salem Toastmlstress club plans its spring speaking contest next Thursday evening at the dinner meeting of the group in the Golden Phetfeant at 6 o'clock. Miss Ada Ross is to be toastmlstress. ( Organist is to be Miss Ruth Bedford and Mrs. Herbert Hamman is to sing. Mrs. Jack Merrick of Forks, Wash., will be matron of honor for her sister. The bridesmaids will be another sister of the bride, Mrs. John Wolf of Port land, and the sister of the bridegoom, Mrs. Frank Meier. Dr. Paul Burger is to be best man for his brother. Ushering will be two other brothers of the bridegroom, Milton and Donald Burger, and John Wolf, brother-in-law of the bride. Fred Burger, nephew of the bride groom, is to be the ring bearer. The Portland Symphony Orchestra will play its third and final concert in the Salem series on Tuesday evening, March 3 at the high school auditorium at 8:15 o'clock. Soloist for this concert will be Rudolf Firkusny, internationally - celebrated Czech pianist, presenting two concertos, one by Mendelssohn, the other by How ard Hanson. Mr. Firkusny gave a solo concert in Salem some years ago and is remembered by those attending the Community Concert series as displaying outstandingly beautiful pianism. February being Americanism month, the Americanism committee of the unit is presenting a program. There will be a panel discussion on the flag and the code for the flag. Both wore green frocks styled identically to that of the matron of inq Classes Outlined by YW New classes for spring activities at the Salem YWCA are forming now, reg istration being accepted at the tempor ary YWCA offices on South Winter street. All classes, with the exception of golf, begin the week of March 2 and the week of April 6. The classes will all be held in the temporary YW build ing, with the exception of the golf group. Among the classes are the fol lowing: Copper work to meet Monday eve nings at 7:30 o'clock, Earl Wilson as Instructor.
