she will be married to Thomas Burger,

and Mrs. Herbert Hamman is to sing.
Mrs. Jack Merrick of Forks, Wash.,
will be matron of honor for her sister.
The bridesmaids will be another sister
of the bride, Mrs. John Wolf of Port
land, and the sister of the bridegoom,
Mrs. Frank Meier.
Dr. Paul Burger is to be best man for
his brother. Ushering will be two other
brothers of the bridegroom, Milton and
Donald Burger, and John Wolf, brother-in-law
of the bride.
Fred Burger, nephew of the bride
groom, is to be the ring bearer. Flower
girls will be Judith Burger, niece of the
bridegroom,' and Cynthia Wolf, niece of
the bride.
The reception following will be at the
church also.

Mrs. Paul L. Patterson, Oregon's first
lady, will be in Eugene next Thursday
evening to give the talk for the Junior
Panhellenic at a banquet planned in Eu

The Portland Symphony Orchestra
will play its third and final concert in
the Salem series on Tuesday evening,
March 3 at the high school auditorium
at 8:15 o'clock.
Soloist for this concert will be Rudolf
Firkusny, internationally - celebrated
Czech pianist, presenting two concertos,
one by Mendelssohn, the other by How
ard Hanson. Mr. Firkusny gave a solo
concert in Salem some years ago and is
remembered by those attending the
Community Concert series as displaying
outstandingly beautiful pianism.
Tickets for this symphony concert will

A program of Spanish music will be

that of Miss Beverly Roberts and David

. marriage. The bridal dress was of
white satin, made en train. The bodice
- and long sleeves were of lace, and the
rounded neckline was bordered with
' lace .Scalloped to tulle for a yoke. A.
. panel of the lace extended down the
front of the satin skirt The fingertip
veil, edged in lace, was arranged from
a crown of seed pearls. The bride wore
a strand of pearls, gift of the bride
groom, and she carried a white Bible ,
on which was a white orchid nested in
freesla and streamers.

Mrs. Jack Pickett of Phoenix, Arl
' zona, was matron of honor for her sis
ter. She wore' a lavender dress, the
' ' bodice of brocaded satin with double
bertha, the skirt of silver net over dark
lavender taffeta. She wore a head

New classes for spring activities at
the Salem YWCA are forming now, reg
istration being accepted at the tempor
ary YWCA offices on South Winter
street.
All classes, with the exception of
golf, begin the week of March 2 and
the week of April 6. The classes will
all be held in the temporary YW build
ing, with the exception of the golf
group. Among the classes are the fol
lowing: Copper work to meet Monday eve
nings at 7:30 o'clock, Earl Wilson as
Instructor. Bookcnds, planters, pic
tures, box covers, and other ornamental
home articles will be made.
Millinery classes to be on' Tuesday
evening at 7:30 o'clock. Miss Marie
Baker is Instructor. Not only are new
hats designed and copied in this group,
but old hats are restyled and retrim
med. Bridge classes These are open to
men as well as women. Mrs. James
Webb teaches the Gordon system. The
Intermediates' class will be Tuesday
evenings at 7:30 o'clock, the beginners
on Thursday evenings.
Beginning English This group is
taught by Mrs. Lloyd Hockett and the
classes are of special interest to new
residents from foreign lands. The be
ginning group meets on Tuesday eve
ning, the advanced classes on Thurs
day, Mrs. W. S. Ankney as leader.
"Magic with Food" classes Mrs.
Earl Hampton conducts this group, the
series including lessons on party foods,
quick breads, foreign cookery and other
special interests, the group meeting on
Wednesday evening
Textile painting This class Is taught
by Mrs. George Gregor, meeting on
Wednesdsy evenings. Towel sets,
aprons, curtains, baby clothing, square,
dance tickets, luncheon cloths, etc,
are decorated.
