The Rev. Joseph Scherbring read the 9:30 o'clock morning rites. Mass servers were Dennis and Roger Blades, cousins of the bride! Marilyn Minden was or- ' ganist and- Gerald Neitling the aoloist, accompanied by Dolores Gettfried. i; The bride was given in mar riage by her father. Her gown was ; of white lace over satin and was fashioned with long pointed sleeves. The full satin ' skirt, designed with bands of , lace down the front, was made entrain. To hold her fingertip length veil the bride wore a Ju liet cap, and she carried a bou quet of white stephanotis cen- , tered with a white orchid. Miss Garman and Miss Zuber were dressed in green net over taffeta, the gowns designed with a cascade of ruffles down one side of the skirt. Their caps were Juliet style and they carried baskets of bronze chrysanthe mums with brown streamers. The other attendants were dressed in brown gowns of the same design, their flowers, yel low with green streamers. Miss Coleen Doerfler of Salem, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, dressed in a white net frock with Juliet cap and carrying small basket of chrysanthemums. Ring bearer was also a cousin of the bride, Wallace Blades. Donald Zuber, brother of the bride, attended as best man and groomsmen were Wesley Tom bleson, Marvin Zuber and Wil liam Trask. Ushers were Duane Heuberger, cousin of the bride, and Frederick Skinner, cousin of the bridegroom. The bride's mother wore blue suit with pink accessories and pink rosebud corsage. Mrs. Norman was dressed in a gray suit with gray accessories and red rosebud corsage. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the Sublim ity parish hall. Mrs. John Heu berger, godmother and aunt of the bride, cut the cake and pour ing was Mrs. W. P. Frere: . As sisting were Mrs. Don Blades, Mrs. Cyril Zuber, Mrs. Chris Cremer, Mrs, Bernard Zuber, Mrs. Joseph Herberger, Mrs. Leonard Doerfler, Mrs. U. P. Kremer, and the Misses Ger aldine Heuberger, Mary Louise, Hottinger, Geraldine Hartman, Kathleen Hartman and Doro thy Frank. The guest book was passed by Mrs. Florence Beitel and in charge of the gifts were Misses Sharon Meier, Jane Schumacher and Marlene Heu berger. The wedding trip was to Cal ifornia and for going away the bride wore a brown suit with rust and brown accessories and a white orchid corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Norman will be at home in Sublimity after November 27. When next Wednesday rolls around they will leave for home or a vacation at the home of a friend. Classes will resume a week from next Monday. Among dances slated soon will be the Law School dinner dance, to take place Tuesday evening at Catholic Center. This year the students will present the entertainment, as it alter nates from faculty entertainment to the students to present a pro gram. Miss Hattie Bratzel, lawyer, was the guest speaker at a meet ing of the Associated Women Students, Wednesday. Mary Campbell of Salem was in charge of the meeting. Pi Beta Phi entertained this week for their province presi dent, Mrs. Ryan of Montana. During her visit she met with the Salem alumnae group and at tended meetings at the chapter house. Miss Joanne McDowell was wed to Bob Cody of Corvallis, November 5. The rites took place in the Catholic church of Mil waukie. Mr. Cody is a sophomore attending the university, and his bride is a nurse at the Salem Memorial hospital. Dean Melvin H. Geist of the music school will leave Tuesday for Chicago, 111., where he will attend the annual meeting of the National Association of Schools of Music. The meeting will be held at the Palmer House in Chi. cago. Although Thanksgiving is not yet over, preparations are being made for the performance of the Messiah" given each year by Willamette university. The date for the production will be De. cember 14, and it will be given in the Salem high school audi torium. Soloists Will be Ormal E. Tack of Longview, Wash., ten or; Anne Katherine of Portland soprano; Jean Handzlik of Port land, contralto; and David John son of Portland, bass. The solo ists are professional musicians, Tonight will be the second performance of "The Happy Time," Willamette's first dra matic production this season. Curtain time tonight and tomor row evening is 8:15. Cast in the gay family comedy are Judi Wood, Don Bunse, Jack Phipps, Jean Kimberling, Sherry Schwartz and Kay Ferrin of Sa lem; Garol Meinke of Richmond, Calif.; Kent Lawrence of Mc Minnville; Vaughn Blakenshlp of Riverside, Calif.; Doug Graham of Portland; Tom Murdock of Klamath Falls; Cliff Gregg of Upland, Calif.; Ardelle Steinman of Anacortes, Wash.; and Lyn Wence of Hilo, Hawaii. Hostess to Group Salem Heights Mrs. Lyle Bayne entertained the South Hills Garden club of Salem Heights on Tuesday evening at her home on West Madronna avenue. Mrs. Harvey Peterson was the assisting hostess. It was decided to have one meeting in both November and December with the December meeting to be a Christmas party. There will be an exchange of gifts, each gift pertaining to gar dening; also, the revealing of "secret pals." The club will spon sor a trip to Portland to the Oregon Journal to view the mak ing of Christmas greens and de corations. The date and details will be announced later by Mrs. Ron Miller, chairman of the committee in charge. The group spent the evening in a workshop on winter cor sages. Guests were Mrs. Faye Gooch and Mrs. Jack Williams. Today's Menu GUESTS FOR DINNER Smoked Pork Shoulder Butt with Hot Peaches Broccoli Poppyseed Noodles Bread and Butter Salad Bowl Beverage Frosted Cake Squares Smoked Fork Shoulder Butt With Hot Peaches Ingredients: One 2 to 2& pound boneless smoked pork shoulder butt, whole cloves, Vi cup honey, one No. 2Vi can cling peach halves, butter or margarine. Method: Cover shoulder butt with water and bring to boil; simmer about hour for each pound. Place on shallow baking pan (lined with aluminum foil if desired). Stick butt with cloves about 1 inch apart. Pour honey over butt. Drain peach halves thoroughly and place cavity side up around butt. Put about Vi teaspoon butter in each peach cavity. Bake in very hot (450F) oven, basting butt once, until lightly browned and peaches are heated through about 10 min utes. Makes 4 to 6 servings. Honored at Shower Salem Heights Mrs. Louis Kurth entertained in honor of Miss LaVonne Terry, bride-elect of Lee Karsten, at a shower on Tuesday evening in her home on West Browning avenue. Games were played and prizes won by Mrs. Carl Anderson, Mrs. Fred Browning and Mrs. John Haskins. CDA Event On Sunday j Plans are being told by Court Capital city, Catholic Daughters of America, for the day of re collection to be held at the St. Vincent dePaul Catholic church. Mass and Holy Communion are to be at 8:30 o'clock with breakfast to follow at 10 a.m. Conferences are scheduled from 11 to 1 o'clock with a luncheon served' at 1:30 p.m. Rosary is to be at 2:30 p.m. followed by con ferences and the closing bene diction will be at 4 o'clock. Mrs. Bernard Shriner is gen eral chairman of arrangements and Father Mathod Korn, O.S.B. will conduct the services. The day is sponsored by the CDA for all Catholic women in Salem. Reservation for the breakfast and luncheon are in charge of Mrs. Cyril Meusey, phone 38737, and Mrs. Walter Link, phone 36696. Alumni to Meet Salem alumni of University of California will gather at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Churchill for their annual cele bration following the Stanford California game. The dinner will be a no-host affair at 6:30 o'clock and a program of movies will follow the dinner.
