A. Zodrow of The Dalles. The double ring ceremony was read at ten Newcomers Arc Greeted at Party J Silverlon Mrs. Cora Grader was hostess at an afternoon lawn party at the Fifth street home of her mother, Mrs. Oscar Bro fcn, when 27 old neighbors greeted the newcomers to resi dences on Fifth and Church streets. About the flower gardens ere huge bouquets of blos soms and greenery and among t)io shrubbery was on display the unique collection of Mrs. (Jraden's antiques from Mexico and Central American Indian countries. i Assisting in the floral ar rangements was Mrs. Sewell Shepherd and in serving. Woodbiirn Golf Women Meet Woodbum Although the rain made it impossible to play Thursday a group of the women golfers gathered at the club house at the Woodbum Golf club for luncheon and an af ternoon of cards. Mrs. George D. Jones was winner of the prize offered for high score. The next mixed tournament and no-host supper will be held on Sunday, September 22. Plans were made for the women's fall tournament and the qualifying 18 holes must be played be tween September 1 and 15. Silverlon Miss Eleanor Cal avan of Sclo and Edgar V. Amo, fon of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Amo of Silverlon were married Fri day afternoon at 3 o'clock, at Trinity Lutheran parsonage, Kev. M. J. K. Fiihr officiating. Attendants were Miss Isa bella Schmidt of Mt. Angel and Richard Swanson of Silvcrton. Members of the two immediate families and a few close friends were present. A reception was held at the home of the bridegroom follow ing the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Amo plan to make their home in Silvcrton at the Giroux apartments fol lowing a wedding trip to Ore gon coast resorts. Both plan to continue their work in Sa- lem. St. Mary's choir sang and soloists were Miss Eustelle Bauman and Miss Pauline Saalfeld, who were ac companied by Miss Helen Keb er, organist, who also played the wedding marches. H. Benedict Schwab, seaman second class, U. S. navy, gave his sister in marriage. The bride wore the traditional white satin wedding dress, with seed pearl embroidery around the yoke of the fitted bodice, long sleeves edged in French lace, as was the front panel of the full skirt ending in a 'ong court train. Self-covered buttons cen tered the back of the bodice. A Mary Stuart headdress of il lusion held in place the finger tip veil of matching net and she carried a white prayerbook, topped by an orchid, from which fell streamers tied with stephan otis. She wore a string of pearls worn by her mother at her marriage. Her attendants, Miss Maxlne Schwab, sister of the bride, and Miss Marilyn Zodrow, sister of the bridegroom, wore matching gowns of aqua blue and shell pink, respectively. They were designed with fitted bodice of brocaded nylon, with bracelet length sleeves and a yoke of net with a round neckline. Self-covered buttons centered the back and the full floor length skirt was of net over taffeta. Each wore a matching headdress of illusion ruching length veil, and they carried nosegays of pink gladioluses and white carnations. Each wore a locket and chain. Arthur Hasslcr served as best man for his cousin and ushers were Jack Traviss, Bernard Hasslcr, cousins of the bride groom, and Frank LeDoux, cousin of the bride. Jerry Schwab and Harry Schaecher served at the nuptial mass. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilde were hosts at breakfast for the bridal party, their immediate relatives and Rev. Father Da mian, OSB. A pyramid of gladioluses, zinnias and asters guarded by carnations and light ed tapers, formed the center piece for the bride's table. Assisting the hosts at serving were Mrs. Louis Schwab, Mrs. J. L. Wachter, Mrs. George Hauptman and Miss Kathcrine Schaecher. A reception was held during the afternoon at St. Mary's club room. Mrs. J. L. Wachter serv ed the ices, Mrs. Albert Wilde poured, assisted by Mrs. Ed ward Hammer and Mrs. W. J. Klott. Mrs. Leo Schwab and Mrs. George J. Hauptman cut and served the huge three-tier ed wedding cake. Miss Lola Traviss was in charge of the gift table, and Miss Betty Has slcr passed the guest book. S. navy in May, having served in the South Pacific for over two years. He is now employed at the U. S. National bank in The Dalles. For her son's wedding, Mrs. Zodrow wore a black cardigan suit with black accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Stuart McNab of Wasco, wore a fuchsia-colored wool suit with white accessories and a corsage of carnations and bouvardia for her brother's wedding. Burger, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Burger, became the bride of Luke R. Brittan of Silverton, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Brittan of Woodbum. Miss Pau line Saalfeld sang solos, accom panied by Miss Helen Keber, who played the wedding music for the marches and for the choir at nuptial mass. Rev. Vincent Koppert officiated and read the vows. Miss Burger was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of white silk pop lin, with low sweetheart neck line on fitted bodice, topped with a yoke of net, forming cap sleeves edged with a ruching of net. The full overskirt was of net. A thrcc-strand string of pearls adorned her neck and she wore long white silk gloves. Her full length veil, with face veil, of illusion was embroider ed on the edges and held in place by a coronet of pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of gardenias, rosebuds and ste phanotis. Miss Teresa Brittan of Wood burn was bridesmaid. She wore a gown of baby pink chiffon with fitted bodice, scalloped sweetheart neckline, puffed sleeves, with full chiffon skirt over taffeta. She wore a locket and carried a yellow nosegay with varigated shades of laven der asters, centered by a car nation and yellow daisies. Her headdress was a white half-hat with pink ruffle of velvet and shoulder veil of net to match. The matrons of honor were Mrs. Hal Bailey of Portland and Mrs. Kenneth Barnes of Port land, sisters of the bride, and Mrs. Lester Wells of Silverton, sister of the bridegroom. Mrs. Bailey wore a baby blue taf feta, Mrs. Wells wore an Alice blue taffeta gown, fashioned similiarly, with fitted bodice, V-neckline, puffed sleeves. Mrs. Bailey wore a zircon necklace. Their headdresses were white half-hats with blue shoulder veils of net. Mrs. Barnes was gowned in a draped chiffon of salmon pink. The fitted bo- . She wore a cross and chain and carried a nosegay of lavender asters identical to the brides maid's. Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Wells carried pink nosegays of variegated shades, centered with carnations and daisies. John Brittan was best man for his brother. The ushers were Hal Bailey, Kenneth Bar nes and Lester Brittan. Twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wells, Gene and Jack, served as altar boys. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Burger served breakfast at their home immediately following the cere mony for the bridal party, their parents and Rev. Vincent Koppert, OSB. Covers were placed for thirty guests for din ner at the Mt. Angel hotel. Serving were Mrs. Isadore Schaffncr and Miss Tillie Splon ski. A square three-tiered wed ding cake with an arrangement of salmon-colored gladioluses, gardenias and rosebuds center ed the bride's table. Miss Helen Keber played selections and ac companied Miss Pauline Saal feld, who sang. Mrs. Burger wore a black cardigan suit of wool, black accessories and a corsage of salmon-colored gladioluses for her daughter's wedding. At the reception held at the Legion hall during the after noon, Mrs. Marie Vanslow and Mrs. R. J. Welton cut the wed ding cake and Miss Barbara Wells passed the guest book. Silverton A number of local relatives and friends attended the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George Thur man at their Salem home Sun day afternoon. Rus sell Myers officiating. Miss Su zane Teeter, violinist, assisted by Miss Elaine Hamre at the piano, played the wedding mu sic. The bride, attended by her sister, Miss Ruby Meinkill of Grants Pass, wore a biege dress maker suit with coral accessor ies and a pink rosebud corsage. Robert Fry was his father's best man. At the reception for more than 100 guests in the church dining rooms, with the Loyal Berean Sunday school class in charge, Mrs. Ted Engstrom of Seattle and Mrs. Robert Goetz of Bremerton, presided at the urns. Mrs. Wilma Kerr of Los Angeles, cut the wedding cake. The gifts were in charge of Mrs. Minnie O'Dell of Portland, as sisted by Miss Julieann Ste wart, also of Portland, and Miss Gwen Fry of Salem.
