Northwest Air Routes Promoted Portland, March 21 Iff) Mayors of Portland, Seattle and Taioma were to meet today in Tucoma to work out an appeal for direct air routes between the northwest and Hawaii. Mayor Earl Riley said Port land had received two applica tions for such service, "and we want It." A movement by Senator Elmer Thomas, chairman of the senate agricul tural committee to remove farm items from OPA control con tributed to the upturn. Rye finished the day un changed to up Va cent a bushel; wheat and corn unchanged; oats unchanged to up , and barley unchanged to up V. Numerous buying orders in wheat went begging for lack of offerings. The trade preferred to go slow on commitments pending development of antici pated government feed conser vation order and expectation that the wheat program will un dergo changes due to light pur chases of cash wheat by the commodity credit corporation. Country offerings of cash corn continued ljght with only 50,000 bushels bought by noon. Cash corn remained firm at the ceil ing. A limited trade took place in May delivery at the ceiling but interest was light.
