Society Clubs and Music Miss Mary lee Fry Reveals Members of Bridal Party Her marriage .. William Earl Snell, son of Governor and Mrs. ,Earl Snell dated for Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at the St. Paul'a Episcopal church, Miss Marylee Fry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Fry, Jr., is today announcing members of her wed ding party. Rev. George Herbert Swift will be the officiating Portland Church. Scene Of Ceremony Setting March 4 for the cere mony at which Miss Frances Hope Kring. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orlen R. Kring, and 'storekeeper Second Class Elirl 'L. Malm of the U.S. navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Malm of Salem, was the chapel of the Peninsula Evangelical church in Portland. The couple exchanged their vows before an altar decorated with arrangements of white tu lips and carnations and lighted with white tapers in tall candel abra. Rev. Gerald Jcffe officiat ed at the ceremony, which was attended by members of the two families. Preceding the cere mony Mrs. Jeffe sang "Be cause." Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride chose for her wedding costume an afternoon frock of navy blue with which she wore white accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Miss Doris Schulze, who was the bride's only attendant, wore a frock of aquamarine crepe and a corsage of pink camellias. Mr. Malm served as best man Tor his son. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was held at the Imperial hotel. On returning from a short wedding trip the bridegroom will return to active services and the bride will make' her home with her parents in Port land. Mrs. Malm, who is a gradu ate of Salem high school, and of Northwestern Business col lege in Spokane, Wash., is now connected with the priority of fice of the Oregon Shipbuilding corporation. Storekeeper Malm, also a graduate of Salem high school, was an employe of the Remington Rand, Inc., prior to entering the navy. Dinner Compliments Ma, and Mrs. Ullman Honoring Major and Mrs. LeRoy Ullman, of Ft. Scott, Calif., who arrive in the capi tal city Sunday afternoon for a visit with the H. G. Henderson and Percy Ullman families was the dinner for which Mrs. Percy Ullman was hostess Monday evening. Covers were placed at the dinner for Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Henderson, Ida Jo Henderson, W. J. Ullman of Paullina, Iowa, A. E. Ullman, Major and Mrs. LeRoy Ullman, Bobby and Ronald Ullman, Mrs. Eilene Wikoff and Mrs. Percy Ull- Dinner Party Fetes jMiss Marjorie Tate Complimenting their daugh ter. Miss Marjorie Tate, whose 16th birthday anniversary it was, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Tate entertained with a dinner party at their country home east of Salem Sunday. Mrs. Barnett will make her home in Carmel, while her husband, a captain in the army, is stationed at the Monte rpy Presidio, and Mrs. Regner. Vhose husband is a lieutenant in the army, is returning to San Mateo to make her home with her parents. Both have been making their home in Salem, while their husbands were sta tioned at Camp Adair. Allen King of Portland will serve as best man for Mr. Snell and ushers will be Daniel Fry, III, brother of the bride, and Thomas Rothchild, Lt. Peter Smith, Bing Osborn, Wil liam Garnjobst and Stanley Durkin, all of Portland. A reception at the West Le felle street home of the bride's parents will follow the cere mony. Crescendo Club Gives Weekly Program Today Offering another in a series of weekly programs being broad cast over station KSLM Tuesday afternoons between the hours of 4:30 and 4:45 o'clock were members of the Salem high school Crescendo club. Appearing on today's program were Verne Esch, vocalist, who was accompanied by Miss Jewell Gueffroy, Miss Ruth Baine, bas oonist, and Dean Allport. Miss Baine and Mr. Allport will both appear as soloist and then will play a duet. Country Club Has Supper Meeting Wallace Road Spring flow ers and green candles centered the long supper table when Wil lamette Lodge Country club entertained with its March meeting. Committee in charge of arrangements was Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. James Smart. Five tables of cards were in play with Mrs. Charles McCarter winning wo men's high honors and A. E. Utley the men's prize. Capital city visitors Saturday will be Mr. and Mrs. William Einzig of Portland, who will be attending the wedding of Miss Marylee Fry and William Earl Snell. Lowell Fox Honored At Saturday Party Honored on his 13th birthday anniversary was Lowell Fox, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gale L. Fox, Saturday feted him with a dinner party at their home in the Portland road fol lowed by a line party. Sunday a group of relatives were present at the Fox home to help Lowell celebrate his birthday anniversary. Out of town guests present were his grandmother, Mrs. Ada Farmer, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Farmer and family, all of Portland. Junior Club Has St. Patrick's Party Woodburn A St. Patrick's Day party was that held Thurs day evening at the library club rooms by the members of the Junior Woman's club with Mrs. Freda Burt as hostess. Irish games were played and Irish songs were sung by the group with prizes in games go ing to Mrs. Wilda Hooper, Mrs. Eva Halter and Mrs. Elaine Steele, and to Mrs. Verna Heer and Mrs. lone Schooler as cap tains in a contest between two groups. Decorations of spring flowers, pussy willows and Irish colors carried out the party theme. Miss Zoa Lowthian assisted the hostess in serving. Meeting at the home of their guafdian. Mrs. F. W. The little girl's i father, who was graduated from West Point in January, 1943, and while attending West Point was a member of their football team, is a former Willamette university student. During the years that he attended Willam ette, prior to leaving for West Point, he was a member of the varsity football squad. Betrothal Told At Sorority Chapt ter-House Betrothal announcement made on the University of Ore gan campus last week-end was that of Miss Doris Adellc Chap ler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl A. Chapler, and Morton Clay Cole, of the United States navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Em ery M. Cole of Porltand. The news was told last Thurs day at a fireside at the Alpha Delta Pi sorority chapter 'house. Miss Chapler, a sophomore at the ' University of Oregon, is a graduate of Salem high school. Her fiance, who at tended Roscburg schools, is an air radio mate and has been at tending radio school at Corpus Christi, Texas., for the past two years. He is now in California awaiting assignment. Ahwahndah group Camp Fire Girls met. at the home of their guardian, Mrs. James Bunnell, Thursday evening. The time was spent in making wall placqucs. ... Pupils Are Guests Of Prof. Churchill Informal party was that for which Prof, avid Mrs. Frank Churchill were hosts at their home Friday night honoring Prof. Churchill's pupils. The St. Patrick's motif was carried out in the decorations for the party. Games were in play follow ing a short musical program. Assisting Mrs. Churchill were Patsy Fitzsimmons and Mary Campbell. Eleanor Titus Enlists For Service With Waves With the plan of continuing her nurse's training in the navy and also to release a navy man for active sea duty, Miss Eleanor Alice Titus of 1430 North Fourth street, has enlisted in the Waves. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Titus of Turner, Miss Titus is a graduate of the Aums ville high school with the class of 1937 and for the past year has been serving as a nurse's -aide at the Salem Deaconess hospital, ... 'Victory Musicale' Wednesday Night "Victory Musicale" is title of the concert to be presented by the Willamette chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, national music honorary, in Waller hall on the Willamette university campus Wednesday night at 8:15 o'clock with the public invited to at tend. No admission is being charged to the concert, but in keeping with the theme will be the sale of war savings stamps at the door by members of the organ ization. Included on the program will be violin, piano, flute and vocal numbers and participating in the all-student affair are Miss Yvonne Mozee, Miss Barbara Diefendorf, Miss Mary Mar garet Livesay, Miss Marjorie Duckwell, Miss Dorothy Niles, Miss Freda Bucurench, Miss Eunice Massee and Miss Louis Wrisley. Recently arrived in the capital city from New York is Mrs. Robert W. Medley. Mrs. Medley, who is at present the guest of her husband's mother, Mrs. L. C. Arriving Wednesday at the Walter Fry home from Califor nia, is a cousin of Mrs. Fry and also of Ncls Henjum of Silver ton, George Grinde whose home is in Collon, S. D., and who is on his first trip west. He will visit old time friends living in Silverton and Salem and rela tives in western Oregon. Woman's Club Sponsor Library Benefit Tea Independence Planned for Tuesday evening at the Woman s clubhouse is annual library ben efit tea sponsored by members of the Independence Woman's club. Hagstrom Joining the ranks of brides elect is Miss Donna Marie Brown, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. D. Ray Brown, whose be trothal to Sgt. Roland G. Hag strom of San Francisco, son of Mr. and Mrs Lars Hagstrom of Seattle, was revealed at a tea for which her parents were hosts at Uieir home in North Front street Sunday afternoon. No date was named for the wedding. Arrangements of yellow and white spring flowers were used in decorating the living room, where the hosts and Miss Brown and her fiance received the guests, and centering the tea table was an arrangement of daffodils in a crystal bowl flank ed by yellow tapers in a crystal holder. Ovilie E. Welsh, now sta tioned at Camp Roberts, Calif., with the army. Miss Welsh, who is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Welsh of Salem, route 7, was gradu ated from Salem high school in 1940 and while in school was ac tice in the Home Economics club and the Girls Letter club and was a member of the basketball i and volleyball teams. She attended the Capital Bus iness college and has recently been connected with the Oregon slate public utilities office. Pre viously she was a stenographer in the office of the secretary of state.
