Mrs. Daniel J. Fry, Jr., is today announcing members of her wed

of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Malm
of Salem, was the chapel of the
Peninsula Evangelical church in
Portland.
The couple exchanged their
vows before an altar decorated
with arrangements of white tu
lips and carnations and lighted
with white tapers in tall candel
abra. Rev. Gerald Jcffe officiat
ed at the ceremony, which was
attended by members of the two
families. Preceding the cere
mony Mrs. Jeffe sang "Be
cause." Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride chose for her
wedding costume an afternoon
frock of navy blue with which
she wore white accessories and
a corsage of gardenias.
Miss Doris Schulze, who was
the bride's only attendant, wore
a frock of aquamarine crepe and
a corsage of pink camellias.
Mr. Malm served as best man
Tor his son.
Following the ceremony, a
wedding dinner was held at the
Imperial hotel.
On returning from a short
wedding trip the bridegroom
will return to active services
and the bride will make' her
home with her parents in Port
land. Mrs. Malm, who is a gradu
ate of Salem high school, and
of Northwestern Business col
lege in Spokane, Wash., is now
connected with the priority of
fice of the Oregon Shipbuilding
corporation. Storekeeper Malm,
also a graduate of Salem high
school, was an employe of the
Remington Rand, Inc., prior to
entering the navy.

her parents. Both have been
making their home in Salem,
while their husbands were sta
tioned at Camp Adair.

Weekly Program Today
Offering another in a series of
weekly programs being broad
cast over station KSLM Tuesday
afternoons between the hours
of 4:30 and 4:45 o'clock were
members of the Salem high
school Crescendo club.
Appearing on today's program
were Verne Esch, vocalist, who
was accompanied by Miss Jewell
Gueffroy, Miss Ruth Baine, bas
oonist, and Dean Allport. Miss
Baine and Mr. Allport will both
appear as soloist and then will
play a duet.

At Saturday Party
Honored on his 13th birthday
anniversary was Lowell Fox,
whose parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Gale L. Fox, Saturday feted
him with a dinner party at their
home in the Portland road fol
lowed by a line party.
Sunday a group of relatives
were present at the Fox home
to help Lowell celebrate his
birthday anniversary. Out of
town guests present were his
grandmother, Mrs. Ada Farmer,
and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Farmer
and family, all of Portland.
Junior Club Has

day evening at the library club
rooms by the members of the
Junior Woman's club with Mrs.
Freda Burt as hostess.
Irish games were played and
Irish songs were sung by the
group with prizes in games go
ing to Mrs. Wilda Hooper, Mrs.
Eva Halter and Mrs. Elaine
Steele, and to Mrs. Verna Heer
and Mrs. lone Schooler as cap
tains in a contest between two
groups.
Decorations of spring flowers,
pussy willows and Irish colors
carried out the party theme.
Miss Zoa Lowthian assisted the
hostess in serving.
Meeting at the home of their
guafdian. Mrs. F. W. Taylor,
last week for a council fire
members of the Luta Camp Fire
group had as their guests, mem

air radio mate and has been at
tending radio school at Corpus
Christi, Texas., for the past two
years. He is now in California
awaiting assignment.

Wednesday Night
"Victory Musicale" is title of
the concert to be presented by
the Willamette chapter of Mu
Phi Epsilon, national music
honorary, in Waller hall on the
Willamette university campus
Wednesday night at 8:15 o'clock
with the public invited to at
tend. No admission is being charged
to the concert, but in keeping
with the theme will be the sale
of war savings stamps at the
door by members of the organ
ization. Included on the program will
be violin, piano, flute and vocal
numbers and participating in
the all-student affair are Miss

who is at present the guest of

Mitchell, plans to make her

service, but both serving their
country are Miss Bertha Louise
Welsh, who recently enlisted in
the Waves and her twin brother,
Cpl. Ovilie E. Welsh, now sta
tioned at Camp Roberts, Calif.,
with the army.
Miss Welsh, who is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Welsh
of Salem, route 7, was gradu
ated from Salem high school in
1940 and while in school was ac
tice in the Home Economics club
and the Girls Letter club and
was a member of the basketball
i and volleyball teams.
She attended the Capital Bus
iness college and has recently
been connected with the Oregon
slate public utilities office. Pre
viously she was a stenographer
in the office of the secretary of
state.
