Movies Shown Middle Grove Middle Grove The Community club held Its January meeting at the school recently with a fair sized crowd in attendance despite the stormy evening. In charge of the program for the evening's enter tainment were Fred Scharf and Harold Wood burn. James Loder of Loder Bros, service station of Sa lem, presented an hour of colored motion pictures with 10 different reels presented. The 4-H clubs sponsored a candy sale with Raymond Ootcheir and Dale Van Laanen in charge. Funds derived will go towards the 4-H summer school scholarships. The Junior Community club had the fourth Issue of the club paper "Highlights" on display and report a brisk sale. Featured in this Is sue is a column or two of Swegle news, both sport and social. Daryl Colwell is editor of the paper, sisted by Clyde Chrlstmann, Lee Walters, Caroyl Snyder, Earl Malm, Arthur and Roy Case, Audrey Chrlstmann and Glen Wagers. Mrs. Robert Wagers and Harold Wood burn are advisors for the staff. During the business session the Community club pressldent urged that parents and others who can ned tomatoes to be used for the hot lunches served the scholars are urged to bring their supplies to the school as they are needed at this time. Announcement was made that the February meeting would be In charge of the Junior Community club who will furnish the program and be in charge of the refresh ments. The March meeting will be under the direction of the Instruc tors, Mrs. Edna Grant and Miss Mary Farnham, assisted by the 4-H club leaders, Mrs. Cleo Keppinger, Mrs. Emory Goode, Mrs, Dan Scharf and Arthur Case. They will present the club members in the annual Achievement day program and exhibition. Refreshments were served follow ing the program in the school kit chen by John van Laanen, John Cage, Cleo Keppinger and Robert Wagers. Silver Falls Mill Will Resume Soon Sllverton W. L. McGinnls, su perintendent of the Silver Falls mills, announced Monday that work on repairs and annual readjust ment of the plant was being rushed so it will be possible to open the mill for capacity production the first of next week. The day shift will start first and as soon as re pairs are entirely completed the night shift will also be on the Job. It was rumored from other offi cial sources that logging in a big way had started In the Glennbrook section for the immediate supply of logs to the local mill, Sweden will Increase the use of alcohol as automotive fuel, Middle Grove Hansen Family Leaving Soon for Vale Location; New Own ers Flan Many Improvements Alec Bishop Is recuperating at the family home following a siege of flu and other complications suffer ed for the past month. Mrs. Lee Watkins Is expected home this week after spending a fortnight In San Francisco and Los Angeles where she was the guest of relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Miller (Ella Fandrich) who purchased the Her man Wacken, Sr., farm recently, are making extensive Improvements. The Millers formerly resided on the Silverton highway but sold their home there. The Oliver Hansen family, who recently traded their acreage here for 80 acres near Vale, are still temporarily located In Salem but plan on moving to their new home soon. Their daughter, Betty, will remain In Salem where she has employment. Their son Jack, who has been employed In Springfield, will Join the family when they move. At Vale they will be Joined by Mr. and Mrs. Duane Hansen and son Lee, of Brigham, Utah, old home of the Hansens, who will help oper ate the farm. The new owners of the Hansen farm are making many improve ments. They have moved the house off the former location and made a cement foundation and basement onto which they will return the house. The Bernard Larsen family, who occupied the Perrine house and moved' to Salem, are planning on locating In California. The new occupants are Mr. and Mrs. Peter Thinnetus. Horse Is Cause Of Hand Injury Mlllersburg Gus Gefeke met with a painful accident recently which cost him the loss of the first two joints of his index finger on his left hand. As he was leading a horse to the barn, he hooked his finger in a small rope around the animal's neck. The horse reared up playfully and the finger in the rope was snapped off. A neigh bor took him to the Albany Gen eral hospital for the wound to be dressed. It Is reported to be heal ing nicely. L. K. Conser, prominent farmer in this district, underwent a recent emergency operation at the Eman uel hospital in Portland. It is said that another operation later on will be necessary. Mrs. Conser is in Portland at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lotus Conser, in order to be near her husband. Mrs. James G. Gourley is con valescing from a recent illness at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Tay lor, near Corvallls.
