Mrs. Joseph Darby At a lovely candlelight ceremony performed Wednesday evening at 3 o'clock, Mlsa Betta Church, daughter of Campbell Church, beeam the bride of Joseph Darby or saiem. The aervlce was read by Rer. H. R. White at the Church home on Fair mount Height In Eugene. The wedding party atood before an Improvised altar banked with whit chrysanthemum with candel abra on either aide. The bride wore a gown of whit velvet fashioned with a v-neckllne and full bodice, the skirt trailing Into a full train. Her veil of white tulle fell from a coronet of orange blossom also Into a train. She also wore a short face-veil. Miss Church carried a whit pray. erbook with gardenia and lilies of the valley on white velvet ribbon. Attending the bride was her sis ter, Miss Peggy Church, who wore a gown of hyacinth blue taffeta with the bodice laced with yellow velvet ribbons. Her flowers were a cascade of yellow chrysanthemums. Miss Peggy Ann Church, niece of the bride, was flower glrL Her dress was fashioned with a long skirt of yellow taffeta. She car ried blue cornflowers In a yellow basket. Dr. A. w. Selgrtst acted as best man for Mr. Darby. Ann Linden Graham received the guest at the door. At the reception following the ceremony the table was centered by the bride's cake decorated with white bouvardla. Decorating the dining room wen candles and pink chrysanthemums. INC, Ue CeWenrie Willamette Homecoming Interests Salem Folk Willamette University Campus This week-end will find Willamette university busy entertaining the returning alumni, who will arrive on the campus for the annual Willamette university homecoming, a number of whom will be guest of their fraternities and sororities during their stay in the city. The campus social whirl will begin with the danc for students and alumni in the old high school gym Friday night after the Wulamette-Whlttler football game, with John Stalnacher and his or chestra playing. Saturday night the alumni will have their annual ban quet at the First Methodist church. School function will be brought to a close with the annual home coming play, "The Bishop Misbe haves," which will be presented In the Leslie auditorium Saturday night at 1:30. The play I being di rected by Mrs. Chester Oppen and Miss Loren Tompkins. Kappa Gamma Rho fraternity will entertain with an Informal party at the fraternity bouse after the play Saturday night, and following the party will go on a serenade, sun day they will honor their homecom ers at a dinner at the fraternity house. Singer Wins Plaudits For Performance Josephine Albert Spauldlng ap peared in concert at the new high school auditorium Wednesday af ternoon before a mora than cordial audience of high school students and townsfolk. Mrs. Spauldlng has a charming voice, complete with versatile range. splendid enunciation, depth of feel ing and a thorough-going musician ship. She feels what she sings and conquers every type of song. -Her forte, perhaps. Is In the folk song. Opening her program with Blast "L'ameau et un OUeau Rebelle, Mrs. Spauldlng Immediately won the complete confidence and con centration of her audience. In her second group she swung into negro spirituals "Lord, I Want to Be," "Da Gospel Train," the be loved and ever-popular "Deep Riv er" and "Joshua Fit d Battle ob Jericho." The third group Included San derson's "Until," Youman's "With out a Song," Curran's "Life' and the largo-like "Old Mother Hub bard" by Hutchinson. Campus Eugene, Oct. 21 The tantalizing rhythm of the "King of Jazz, alia "the dean of modern American danc music," alias Paul Whiteman, will provide entertainment for home coming crowd on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene Friday. The maestro will direct his 30- plece orchestra in an hour concert in the university's McArthur Court, beginning at :30. Miss Wilma Doss Feted at Party Woodbum Miss Wllma Doss, whose marriage to Ernest Livesay takes place tonight at the Metho dist Episcopal church, was honored with a pre-nuptlal shower by mem bers of the Rebekah lodge after the regular meeting Tuesday evening. Miss Doss was brought into the lodge room in a small wagon and presented with a clothes basket filled with gifts. Mrs. W. H-Broyles and Mr. Fred Hall acted aa flower girl in appropriate costume. Plans were made to hold a family dinner November 13. Committee appointed were: Kitchen, Mrs. James H. Livesay, Mrs. Jeanette Zlmmerle and Mrs. George Beach; dining room, Mrs. W. P.
