Bernardl will spend Christmas In Albany with Mr. and Mrs. George Hurley. . Dr. and Mrs. H. H. dinger will have as their house guests on Christmas day and over the week end, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Shissler and two children, Barbara and Frances, of Harrisburg. Mr. and Mrs. Chester F. Gough and Mrs. M. A. Gough will arrive from Portland tomorrow evening to bo the guests over the week end of Dr. and Mrs. T. C. Smith Jr. Mrs. M. A. Gough is Mrs. Smith's mother and Chester Gough Is her brother. Miss Helen Moore was the louse guest in McMinnvllle for eeveral days recently of Mrs. C. K. Knickerbocker, who before her marriage was Polly Haid of Sa lem. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wilson whose marriage took place the parsonage of the West Salem church lost Thursday were greet ed last night, when they returned Irom a trip to the coast, by a group of seventy five of their friends. A charivari given for them at the home of Mr. Wilson's parents on the Orchard Heights Toad, opened with a bagpipe solo by John Charge. A number ot gifts were brought fcy the group for the bride and rroom and the evening was spent In games. ' Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Moore and two daughters, Helen and Kiun, will leave tomorrow evening for Portland where they will be the Tueets until Sunday of Mrs. Moore's sister, Mrs. R. Dillnr. Mrs. Frank Wilson and eon, Wllford. accompanied by Mrs. Joe Yates and MiFS Eva Ham mond who were their house guests for several days, left yesterday tor Mrs. Yates' home at Orenco. B. sewing club at a delightful Christmas party at the Patterson home on Monday evening. An eleven o'clock supper was served In the dining room at a long table centered with a largo red chimney. Red ribbons led from the chimney to each cov er. At a given signal each of the guests tugged at the ribbons and comic girts appeared from the in side of the chimney. Seals weie sold at the post office every week dav since December 7. Sale in leading stores and business houses com menced on the fourteenth and was kept up each day until last night. Today the booths In Mil ler's store and the post office are the only ones open and tomorrow the only place where seals may be purchased will be at the book stores. According to a rough es timate It is figured that nearly $250, possibly a bit more, will have been netted from the eale when it closes tonight. Mrs. John E. Brophy was chairman of the booth sale in Salem and more than a hundred club women as sisted. The complete total netted from look charge of the mail sale. The entire eale in the city was spon sored by the Salem Woman'e club. One ot the most delightful Christmas parties of the week was given yesterday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ingrey when members of the Golden Hour club entertained their husbands. A Christmas tree and Santa Claus with glfta for every one and a variety of Christmas games en tertained tne group. Assisting Mre. Ingrey during the evening were Mre. A beautiful Christmas custom which was started here more than five years ago by a group of mem bers ot the MacDowell club will be observed again this year when on Christmas eve Christmas car ols will be given at the homes of the "ehut ine" of the city.
