A rich' Christmas present for stock holders of the American Can com pany was announced today when directors authorized a $3 extra dividend on the common shares and proposed a 60 per cent stock dividend with an exchange of six new shares for one ot the old when the present par value ot the stock has been reduced from 100 to 25.
