November Isn't a heavy building month for Salem, and permits tak en out in November, this year, were ouJy $79,530, an Increase, however, over the same month for last year when the total for the month was 431200. Eugene's figures for last month were $187,000 against $88, 1(10 Cor November, 1324. The No vember figures for 1024 and 1025 for other cities In the state are: Astoria, this year, $29,720, last year, $121,130; Klamath Falls, this year, $109,430, last year MS, 173; LaGrande, this year $12,340, -last year $12,680; Medford, this year, $57,780, last year $41,125; Portland this year $3,121,195, laat year, $2,-118,340. 1II0N DOUBLES Mutton has practically doubled In price in the last six months, according to bids opened by the fitnte board of control yesterday for supplies at the state Institu tions Cor the next six months. The new quotation on mutton Is 14 cents, while when bids were open ed Inst June the quotation wa& $7.20 a hundred. Freeh beef has advanced from $7.20 to $9.35, while bacon has dropped a trifle .and Is now 27 cents. The lowest bid on coffee of the kind used by the Btate is 29 as compared with 31 six montus ago. Hard wheat flour is now $7.64 and six months ago was $7.42. Ham is 2t cents.
