He lived there 24 years, teaching school about two years. In the United States he soldierett ai Plattsburg. N. Y., Washington, D. Fort Leavenworth, ban An tonio, the Prosidio at San Francis co and other places. During the World war he served overseas for 1 months with the 319th and the Fourth engineers. In all he served 23 years in the army. After his retirement he was again called in to active service aa assistant in structor in military science and luetics at Oregou Agricultural College. From tbare he came to the Btate penitentiary and was em ployed 25 months as yard captain. He resigned, but returned after the prison break last August and became turnkey.
