PAGE SIX JEWETT TAKES COUNT IN THIRD IN Ml EVENT The scheduled ten-round main event at the armory last night woe stopped in the third round when Ernie Woodward ot Port land knocked out Joe Jewett or Seattle. While the fight did la: there waa plenty of hard hitting witih both fightera mixing it heav ily. After a series ot trading blows, Woodward sunk one in'o Jewett'a midriff as Jewett was coming In and Jewett sank to the floor for the full count. Up until that time Jewett seemed to have all the best ot it. He landed con tinually on Woodward in tho first round but the Portland fighter came back strong iu the second and did not stop until the third. ' The curd was the beat balanced yet seen here, with every right giving the funs plenty of action. Iloth scrappers hit hard and ofi en and the fiiht was declared by many to have been the best they had ever seen. Frunkle Lewie of Saluni challenged the winner of the tight hut after Beelng the two boys battle was reported to have left town. Just to show how un certain boxing is, Lewis was plain ly out of condition at the fight here with Cal Herman and tho fight ended in a draw. Herman fought Woodward in ltooeburg a few nights la,'-or and knocked Woodward out in the third round ot a scheduled six-round fight.
