Because the club is growing too large to allow the executive board to continue to act ae an adrisory bciard in financial matters the plan of having a finance commit tec to at-:snimo the duties was act cd upon during the business meeting. Mrs. Wm. Ford y re Far go, president of the club, ap pointed as members of the now committee M'e. Charles S. Welier, chairman, Mrs. Ray Farmer. Miss Edith Hazard, Mm. L. H. McMa- hon and MisB Ethul Fletcher. Mrs. O. is. Price, treasurer, is ex- officio member. The committee will consider the bills presented to the club and the best ways for the spending th the club money but the final vote will remain with the club as a whole. Tlie second reading on the pro posed departmental plan was giv en by Mrs. W. E. Kirk and by unanimous vote the club adopted the plan which was suggested by the federation president more than a year ago. According to the new plan the institutions, health tine arts and visiing committees will be enlarged into departments on the order of the state org-ini ration. The personnel of the new departments will be announced by the club president within a few days. A new department wil! be the American home department. Alternates to attend the conn ty federation meeting In Hubbard to take the place of several dele gates who will not be able to at tend will also be named by Mrs, Fargo within a short .lnie. Dur ing the business meeting Mrs. Elmo S. White, general chairman of the committees arranging for the scholarship loan silver tea on Friday, gave a short talk on the purposes of the tea. Mrs. J. A, Carson reported the health con vention held In Portland last week. During the meeting of the executive board preceding the regular meeting seven applica tions for membership In the club were considered. Mrs. T. S. Rob erts was in charge of the music for tlie afternoon. Mifs Jessie Mctiregor, former ly chairman of the slate scholar ship loan committee, was Ihe main speaker of the afternoon Sho told of the manner in which worthy girls are allowed to fin ish their college courses through financial aid given them by the women's club fund. Last year six girls at Willamette were given loans, according to Miss Mc.fJrcg- nr. She was the guest of the scholarship loan committee of the club. The Court street Christian En deavor mot for the monthly bus iness meeting Friday evening nt the church. Reports of commit tees were presented. Plans for the coming month were made, nmong them being a contest bas ed on the four square campaign for the purpose of increasing membership in the Endeavor. The quest ion of an Endeavor library was also discussed. Dibble will give the address of the evening. E. Cooke Patton will give his ex hibition n magic and sleight of hand, readings will be given by Mie Irene Smith and Joel Derri man, and Mii Fay Snarke will sing. Mrs. J. M.
